I understand it's different circumstances, but I think the problem here (the double standard) is the media's reaction to it.

My personal feeling on the matter is when these open carry advocates were doing their thing, and exercising their rights the public and media acts unfavorably (myself and many others thought they were idiots for drawing the negative attention, and giving the liberal media the ammo), but when a historically racist and extreme group does it, it's their right...... kinda backwards.

The humor I found in the report was the lack of media backlash, the lack of Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense making a scene, the fact that what the open carry group was doing was praised & that the group purposely went to a diner were LEOs were having lunch. The group even went in full CTD kit. No backlash because whoever opened their mouth would have been labeled racists, again.

Are you really not able to discern the difference between Black Panthers and Open Carry Texas? Or if that is just really hard, are you able to discern the difference between the KKK and Open Carry Texas?

And just to get to the heart of the matter, the objection really isn't even a racist group like the BPs or KKKs walking around armed, so long as none of them are prohibited persons they have the right to be armed and the right to free expression regardless of how retarded their expressed ideas may be.

But what most of us are objecting to is the blatant, glaring and offensive double standard where groups like this are seemed as "positive defenders of the community" and anyone else is seen as a radical "militia guy" who belongs on a terrorist watch list and probably has child porn.

Maybe next we can declared crips n bloods to be "community heroes", after all they do protect "home turf" even if it is to control the drug trade.

And while we are on the subject, Open Carry Texas generally takes a lot of shit for their antics and are hardly deemed "ok" by most members of this forum. But at least OCT isn't a racist hate group.
