I picked my HD rifle up this past weekend. I drove down to San Antonio and met with Jim at his shop. I chose his rifle mainly due to some folks I like to refer to, tend to use his stuff as part of their job.

I went in with a little reservation as I have the tooling and capability to build my own, and came away completely satisfied. Anyone interested, I'd recommend having a dialogue with Jim or make a visit to his shop.

In reference to the end plate, yes it is a Tapco product and yes, I was concerned as well. Jim explained that he prefers this end plate due to the hardness in comparison to other products he's used. He was not kidding! Managed to break a brand-new spring punch while starting to stake the castle nut.

OK, but most who have participated do care when claims are made in such an embellished way with a title like "best carbine money can buy?' To each his own ...............

Hey bryan, as an actual owner, maybe you can offer up some specific input on how the "attention paid to detail" in the assembly of your rifle sets it apart from others. All we have seen so far are vague comments without any real details. It would be a good addition to this dialogue.

Did you not see M4Guru's post on page 4? He has one as well.

I found the statement in which this rifle was compared to a Porsche to be a bit laughable as well. Porsche has a well established history in the automotive world, whereas Hodge Defense is a newcomer to the AR game. When you pay $180k for a Porsche, you're also paying a premium for the name and the pedigree that comes with it.

Even if the rifle is GTG, I still don't see it being worth the MSRP. The whole endorsement just came off as gimmicky and a bit pretentious.

I just find this whole thread sad. This rifle and owner has gotten more negativity then Jesse James $4000 Nomad AR15.

Wait, so it's the Tapco Intrafuse? I was under the impression that it was the IKH SLAP (IIRC, read it on the Hodge Defense website or else Soldier Systems, don't remember, and distinctly remembered my order from IKH being delayed due to a very large OEM order); SMGLee's original pictures certainly look like the SLAP rather than that Intrafuse. Also, who broke a punch, you or Jim? Would seem odd that you're re-staking something on a brand new carbine.

    DWood,

I'll attempt to do a write up based on my observations and discussions with Jim as he completed my rifle. Let me set your expectations now. I'm not a subject matter expert on the material (I separated from the Army in '93) but I'll do what I can. Give me a few hours.

    Defaultmp3,

It is indeed a Tapco product and Jim was completing my rifle as I arrived at his shop. He broke the spring punch.

Yes, I'd get a good laugh from it personally and I have yet to see a single movie of hers not being a fan of porn. No doubt, some would expect some official condemnation of the product appearing with James I suppose.
It was taken with Jesse Jane, not Jessica Jaymes. Two different porn actresses. If it would've been taken with Jessica Jaymes, he'd have 12 month back order by now.
