Quite frankly, I don't see anything in this thread (with respect to questions and criticism) that doesn't happen with other firearms no one has heard of before or otherwise don't have an established track record.
This forum prides itself on asking the tough questions, cutting through all of the bullshit, and getting down to the brass tacks. I don't see any reason why these things should change based on the thread starter or the item in question. I don't mean disrespect to anyone, but I don't take anyone's word to the bank. No man is infallible. SME != Supreme Being. Arguments stand or fall on their own merits, full stop. Obviously, some people are more knowledgeable than others, have more experience than others. I listen to these people because I'm interested in learning about the information they can convey, not just so I can be told, flatly, without expansion, what I should or shouldn't do. I'm a reasonably intelligent, open-minded, adult, and I am more than receptive when someone has presented an actual, cogent argument. I also give no quarter to sacred cows, whatever form they make themselves manifest.
Clearly, as has been demonstrated time and time again, you don't have to pay a premium to get a quality AR that will run when driven hard. That is part of the reason this forum repeatedly recommends that people "Just buy a Colt" or "Get a BCM." They aren't making these recommendations because they are just barely sufficient, or "good enough." They're being made because they are genuinely quality options that won't have you merely "settling" or getting a rifle just good enough for plinking at berms and soda cans.
So, when a rifle that comes along that costs a premium, above what is typically necessary to get a hard use carbine, it's more than reasonable to have people asking tough questions. Why shouldn't they? I'll also add that this isn't the same as saying that one "can buy all the same parts and come out with the same end result" so I don't fit neatly into Grant's little groups. It's more along the lines of saying that rifles to stake your life on can be had for less so what is this bringing to the table for my consideration? Some of these questions are starting to be answered as I filter through all of the noise in this thread, but since I came here late, I felt compelled to address some of the above points.
"I have your number. Consider yourself warned."
Maybe we can just delete this thread...
Or just be civil. It's not that difficult once you realize there's no consequence, especially if you're not a customer. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Does it work for you? Get one. Will you be better informed through the discussion? Let's hope, but it won't occur if there's no discussion.
ETA: Just to qualify, that's a universal you, not directed at you brushy bill.

I do think that the phrasing of the thread title made this more divisive than could have been.
Had it been titled: Hodge Defense--Badass Rifle, I don't think we'd be this far down the rabbit hole.
I bought this rifle and had a great experience with it for the past four months my figure I share with everyone here and for maybe you will appreciate a well-made carbine.
Never stated that this is the best carbine, if you noticed? I put that out to you to decide.
It is commonly understood that the AR does not have to fit very well to be reliable and accurate but this can be the same argument for a 1911. It too can rattle to hell but it will shoot the 45 ball day in and day out but people still pay handsomely for Wilson combat 1911 so this could also apply to the Hodge defense rifle
If you don't like this rifle so be it, nobody is shoving it down your throat to buy it. But if you can appreciate finer things in life, isn't time for you to take a look at a rifle not only have quality parts on it but it also is put together with loving attention to provide the end-user with a carbine but they can be proud of?
