    Pretty sure Colt has shot lots of 'bad guys' in face and every other place also for the record.

    No, they don't. But key 'industry insiders' like you and SMGLEE are happy to make vague references and allusions to what they did and then try to use that background to discourage any disagreement.

    I don't need to know whether Mr. Builder is the second coming of Larry Vickers or whether he was one of the thousands of people that have every torqued down a barrel nut on a weapon that was used by SOF. It's not my business if they don't want to talk about it. I suspect if it's a secret then it's an open secret but again, none of my business. And for the record, I don't care and I'm not asking.

    I"m referring to the fact that it's very predictable that you would use that background (which we don't know, and isn't your place to announce) to try to head off any discussion about the merits or price of this weapon.

    If you were really concerned about protecting what someone did, you wouldn't have made any oblique references to his background in the first place.

    That is all.

    No one is trying to head off discussion. What I think ought to be headed off is the immature treatment of a longtime member of the industry as if he is is some Oly Arms hack building rifles in his mother's basement and passing them off as professional. Jim Hodge IS a PROFESSIONAL where most of us here are at best, hobbyists. Having a rifle individually and personally made by a professional of long experience with a little extra attention to details and parts selection IS worth the price of admission for some people. If you don't think, so, so what? Is someone holding a gun to your head and forcing you to buy it against your will? Sack up and move on.

    Mr. Hodge,
    Thanks for coming on and explaining your product and putting up with some of the bullshit on this board. Arguing with people on the internet is pointless as it is easy for "keyboard commandoes or self certified experts" to insult from behind a screen, I have no doubt that your rifles will be successful in the civilian market, I personally look forward to hopefully purchasing one in the near future to test for my company along side the BCM and DD rifles we have.

    Mr. Hodges, thanks for addressing the restricted markings I inquired about.

    One of the (many) recurring themes in this thread is lack of track record, with references to BCM's Filthy 14. Perhaps having a 'pass around' rifle of your own would quell that chatter. Whether you have a few placed with reliable instructors, or a simple "pass to the next guy on the list" type of system. Not all of us can drop 10k rounds on a rifle to assess longevity, but it only takes 20 to shoot a half case and reach that number.

    If you go with the latter, don't put my name on the list. I'll likely drop it on the driveway and smear my daughter's mashed-bananas-on-my-collar all over the buttstock.

    Ya, There would have been a number of good ways to go about the title. "Hodge Defense, to join the ranks of top tier AR's"

    There should also be far more technical details in the original post itself. Part identification is easy enough given the time.

    You would not have KAC, Larue, DD, Noveske, etc... fan bois in here shouting their brand loyalty until they bleed out of their anus.

    Then again I know I'm an anomaly in that I love testing stuff more than I like just shooting, I'm a nut for collecting and organizing data for in-depth comparisons.

    Options = Good for everyone
    Competition = Good for everyone
    Price Point = higher than some not as high as others
    Reputation = I don't know him, but apparently highly respected

    Good luck to you Mr. Hodge, all the best in your new venture. Perhaps you can have Alcoa spin you up some excess F150 aluminum!
