My point in posting this article was that you'd think in Middle Eastern gun bazaars that you could get weapons "dirt cheap". The article alludes to the fact that apparently at one time they were much less expensive than now with the ISIS threat.
Any vets from Iraq or Afghanistan recall seeing prices for things like AK's in civilian bazaars? Figure in Iraq the country is awash in AK's and even during our occupation every household was allowed one AK if memory serves. I can't see some Afghan goat herder dropping $700 for an AK (yeah, I know that's not in northern Iraq).
