I cut cable about a year ago since I never watch TV and all my kids watch is Netflix. Maybe I'm missing something here, but as a general rule I don't tend to get upset about not getting something free. Nobody owes me news or sports.

Outside of PBS, none of the local TV channels are free. They're bought and paid for by advertisers - wouldn't be a reason for them to show ads elsewise.

If, however, somebody expects me to pay money for something that is being paid for and brought to my door by the advertisers, they can go screw themselves. Or they can dump the advertisements. But then, I'll just pay for PBS and not pay for anyone else. (I guess that's what it would take to get me to actually give my local PBS station a pledge.)

Also: Haven't had cable in five or six years. Don't really miss it. Except HBO, but you have to pay extra on top of the regular cable fees. If I could just pay for HBO, I would.

Never happen. Free shit army would revolt. I'll put a caveat on that. Unless big .gov is given an option to dispense it to their voting bloc as a perk being "given" to them for their continued docility/brain washing.

    no cable TV here

hate the commercials and what they play even on shows kids watch !
between netflix and amazon prime and the fact so many stations and all controlled from Roku I can watch shows on there web site I see no need for cable anymore

kinda like phones ? we have not had a land line in over 10 years or longer ? no need IMHO cable is going to go the same way at some point just going to take a while for those to realize they don't need cable anymore

The worst companies in the nation include the cable & satellite operations, which are literally just organized crime....

The American Customer Satisfaction Index rates companies based on thousands of surveys. In the latest index, the most-hated companies include large banks, airlines, power and telecom companies.
Of the nineteen worst companies in America, five are telecoms, three of which are ranked in the top five as worst in the country!!!!Not a very good, or responsible idea to just conclude that this is just free marketeering, its not, its monopolizing the nations television communications systems, and forcing you to pay for any of it, regardless....

Netflix. Hulu. Amazon Prime. Most local TV stations have on-line streaming of the news, so I usually fire that up in the evenings when I am cooking supper.

Whoever mentioned that you are paying for something, that has already been paid for with advertising, hit the nail squarely on the head. I ain't gonna pay for something so you can advertise to me. Go piss up a rope.

May the cable companies go to hell, and pull the hole in with 'em! I absolutely hate those bastards.

I haven't had cable in almost five years. If Netflix, Hulu, etc. put ads on, I will drop them like a sack of turds too.
