I'm stuck with cable for the Twins, Timberwolves and Lynx (hey, they are the only winning team in the state). Plus TCM since Netflix has such a poor selection of old movies.
Thank God the library is free. I spend 4+ hours per day with my nose in a book. The biggest joy of retirement.

The beasts of modernism have mutated into the beasts of postmodernism—relativism into nihilism, amorality into immorality, irrationality into insanity, sexual deviancy into polymorphous perversity. And since then, generations of intelligent students under the guidance of their enlightened professors have looked into the abyss, have contemplated those beasts, and have said, “How interesting, how exciting.”
—Gertrude Himmelfarb, On Looking into the Abyss (1994)
It is all about priorities. I cut the cord a few months ago. I think the home phone is going soon. I never answer it, but want it there for when the kids are home alone. I bought a Mohu Leaf 50 Indoor HDTV Antenna and it works great for me. I get all the local networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and PBS. They're very clear. We have Netflix and Prime. I will miss Football the most but I can listen to it on the radio if I can not get it on TV.

"Real men have always needed to know what time it is so they are at the airfield on time, pumping rounds into savages at the right time, etc. Being able to see such in the dark while light weights were comfy in bed without using a light required luminous material." -Originally Posted by ramairthree
This thread has raised a very interesting question in my mind. My wife and I discussed last night and realized we now RARELY watch anything "live" on the TV via our DirectTV sattelite and now rarely record anything to DVR either. It's now perhaps nearly 100% streaming via my Google FIRE TV device, which is awesome, by the way.
We dumped our landline phone a few years back and have never missed it. No more junk calls!
If not for live sports coverage, I'd dump my cable in a heartbeat.
There is that

We cut our cable a few years ago when we noticed the kids were spending more time in front of the TV than outside. No video games, no TV other than Netflix movies, and they are having a blast. They are actually using their brains for entertainment.
