It all depends on which route you take.

If you're going to buy one of the options you mentioned, it's a Form 4, and you'll need to work with the dealer on that. Even with a trust, you can't use EForms at this point for the F4.

If you're going to make your own, the Visual Guide that was linked above should be pretty helpful.

With an F4, no engraving requirement.
With an F1, full trust name and city, state. No abbreviations on the trust name, so if it has a long name, now is the time to fix that. Note that the city, state needs to be where you will make the firearm. That doesn't necessarily mean the same address on your F1, or your home or work address. It's where you physically assemble the firearm.

The engraving must be a minimum of .003". There is no height requirement for this engraving. (The 1/16" minimum you see discussed sometimes is for the serial number only).

This is what I ended up doing.

I'll also add that since you can't efile a Form 4 right now, you'll have your SBR MUCH, MUCH faster if you efile a Form 1 on a lower and buy an upper separately.

Is this normal turnaround for eForm? Tomorrow I'm gonna order a stripped lower, now I gotta find a BCM 11.5 upper receiver. Looks like there all out on BCM website.

As of late, eForm 1's have been extremely quick.

Have to just say thanks on all the quick easy, no nonsense replies. I'm forming a trust this week and absolutely dreaded asking same question as the OP and getting the "This is what the search function is for" response. I've been reading everything on form 1 and 4's building versus buying, but this 1 thread with link summed it up for the newbie. I just couldn't connect all the dots. This thread and link combined with a recent suppressor thread and I'll be building my SBR this year and hopefully shooting it suppressed next year.

    Thanks again,

    Noah
