And, if you get your jollies off baiting people with questions you really don't want an answer to, also your choice. However, do it enough times and you will be met with silence.

    And again, I'm glad you are satisfied with your STI.
    Yes, I have 3 Kimbers and 3 STI's before I bought this last one. I don't think that I ever said that I didn't want quality. That is why I was looking at WC and STI. The thing that turned me off of WC was the attitude of WC owners and even one of their reps, none of you have ever answered my main questions. I just keep hearing how pretty they are. And yes I know WC is top quality. But I was asking from a shooters point of view what will WC do that STI doesn't. So I went with the company that I know. My question for you is why do WC owners get so upset when someone questions their choice of firearm, do you have stock in the company? As I have said many times I really wanted the WC but you fanboys turned me off. I guess I am just not a brand loyal guy.

    Your sarcastic retorts are the problem.

    I've owned six Kimbers, and had good luck with them. Later in life I was able to afford a Wilson, and loved it. Since then I have sold all but two of the Kimbers, now own six Wilsons and have two on order. I have never held, much less bought, either an STI, Brown etc etc. So, I'm not going to slam them. All I can say is I get great performance out of Wilsons, not to mention they are gorgeous. I don't play the "are they worth twice as much as a NAME YOUR BRAND" game. I love them, I can afford them, period.

    You simply are never going to find the answer you want----there is none.

    Not to be argumentative with You FBF (also NOT to stir up any $H!T with BGREID).. but IMHO the Question HAS been answered, more times then once and in different ways, great comparisons with the cars- Vette veres VW or take your pick Porsch veres Toyota for example, that if Anyone doesn't get it or understand it, I don't think they EVER Will..?

    Don't know why but it looks like the cars example(s) has been removed..? LOL

    Peace Jeff

    The thing is, worth/beauty are indeed in the eyes of the beholder. What worth is to me may be completely different to another.

    I have a Wilson CQB that I love. It shoots great, and knock wood I've never had an issue with it at all. No idea how much better it is that many other 1911s, though. I'm guessing the trigger is much of what I love about it. I have a Glock 19 that I like to shoot as well. It runs great. Some folks favor one over the other, but why not have both?

    That doesn't answer the Wilson Combat vs STI question I know, but I'm not sure there really is a satisfactory answer. It's the old thing...try to find one of each and shoot at the same time and see what you like and ignore the noise about what looks best. My two pennies.

    STI= get a double stack

    For a run what you bring as hard as you can every day single stack = Wilson

    People who don't understand a Wilson, have not owned one. They are much like a Porsche, until you drive it, you will not get it. If you have shot a KAC SR 15, it's kind of like shooting a wilson, it shoots great and feels great above the others.

    They are not for everyone though, like everything else in life. It is only a small number of people who do not really like shooting them. So that's why we have more than one choice. You are more likely to have buyers remorse with other brands.

    I do not recommend wilson's to anyone anymore. The reason being, most people cannot afford one or see why you would pay such a high price for one. I am not a fanboy, but a believer in their product. If you like the 1911 platform, they are top of the line. I have thousands of rounds down the pipe and would trust my life with it.

    Over the last year I have also come to love the M&P platform, although I do not shoot it as well as a 1911, my new one from Grant with the storm lake barrel is the cats ass for a great shooting plastic gun. I would suggest finding someone who has either a STI or Wilson and shooting several hundred rounds (drills)thru it to see if you like the platform, then make a decision based on that. You may have to tinker with the STI a bit, but its a good gun to have in your inventory.

    The best gun for you is one that suits your purpose, and this changes over time.
