What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine…
Anyone been to DU yet?
So far I've gathered that this journalists death is GWBs fault, if we just sat down and talked with them we could figure out what makes them upset, and my personal favorite "the US is responsible for dozens of innocent deaths every day in drone strikes. While they are more sensational the end result is the same. At least their numbers are fewer than ours."
These are verbatim. Not making typical hippy jokes.
Why do the loudest do the least?
Exactly. It's brutal and savage, and I'd like nothing more than to see these a-holes immortalized in a giant sheet of glass. But what exactly do we think we can accomplish by going back? Sure we can break all of the things again, kill a bunch of dirtbags, and put the Shi'a back in power but we'll leave to watch the same morons take the country back over and do the same shit. Plus we'd no doubt repeat our mistakes of not wanting the friends of Iran in power...failing to recognize that they're far more reasonable than almost any other population in the ME(save for the Kurds.)
Better to let them **** up their own country all they want...the moment they step out of line and do something that can interfere with the west we check them hard. There are no good sides to pick over there. REGARDLESS of who is in charge it's not favorable for American tourism. It's either going to be someone aligned with the Wahabi/Sunni/AQI extremists or a Shiite who takes his queues from Muqtada al-Sadr...meaning aligned with Iran. If I had to pick...I'd be aligning ourselves with the Shi'a population...they're far more reasonable and when they take hostages they're actually interested in getting paid as opposed to slicing throats. But too many Americans are peeing the bed over Iran(a non-threat) for that to happen.
I don't know...just my jumbled feelings.
ETA: It's worth remembering that Obama didn't actually want to leave Iraq. He was bound by law to leave Iraq(a bill signed into law by GWB....) I'm not a fan of Obama, he's the worst president since FDR. But that's a title he only barely managed to usurp from his predecessor.

You have no idea how much this pisses me off. Our fuking Commander In Chief is more worried about golf than keeping Americans safe. I have no idea how he is still President.
Soon middle eastern beheading videos will be as big of news as rerun married with children episodes. Shoot em dead or off with the head....same conclusion.

I'm not too worried about it. With the exception of a few states such as yours, America really does have a rifle (or pistol) behind "every blade of grass".
These assholes are tough in a land where they are the only ones with the means to deal in death. That won't be the case here.
Whatever happens to Americans (or anyone else for that matter) who happens to go glory-hounding in dangerous places is not my concern. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes and all that.

Why do they edit the video so the actual act isn't displayed? Just the end result? Not getting into conspiracies and all that crap just curious. They obviously aren't worried about offending anyone so I don't get it. If the next journalist recites the same blurb I'm going to be confused- at this point what are the chances the victim will be spared? Why comply?

Probably had an embarrassingly difficult time with the act.... seriously... not making a joke of this guy's death.
Hard to say... Hard to put yourself in his shoes. If the next journalist recites the same blurb I'm going to be confused- at this point what are the chances the victim will be spared? Why comply?
