Immediate Action Jiu-Jitsu 201
Real World Combative Application of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – The Next Step
The IAJJ 201 coursework is designed to go farther and deeper into the problem of staying safe and surviving in the real world. Where IAJJ 101 is all about surviving an assault when you have lost the initiative, 201 is about taking the fight to the assailant(s) and regaining the initiative. This course builds on the foundation of 101 and is geared to developing a multi-disciplinary tactician who can troubleshoot defending against attack, but can also make the right choices in their own training.
These methods are for everyone regardless of physical condition – young, old, male, female, athlete or not – You DO NOT have to be a professional fighter to perform at a functional level. This will be a class about physical training, but it is NOT boot camp. Participants may go at the pace that is comfortable for them, while trying to push the envelope of their own individual performance.
Requirements : Loose, comfortable but durable clothes, mouthpiece, cup, notebook, and an open mind
IAJJ 201 includes a number of different modules addressing the different factors and contexts in an assault and fight for your life. Among the topics covered by the modules include:
Effective use of the Closed Guard – not just how to, but also when it is appropriate and when it is not
Standing up when your opponent stands, and what to watch out for
High percentage Throws/Takedowns that hurt your attacker but leave you free and mobile
Butterfly Guard – applications, but also how it can develop and infuse your standing clinch performance
Standing up under pressure – vs standing multiples, vs a standing single, and vs a grounded single
Half Guard – building directly off 101 material, we dive deeper into the functionality of half guard
T-Shirt Chokes – applying efficient and effective BJJ chokes with everyday clothing
Applications against a variety of positions – mount, headlock, knee on belly, etc.
And as always - Essential training principles, methods, & drills
Also as always - How these concepts & techniques remain true with or without weapon involvement
Structuring and balancing your training and integrating it into a busy real world lifestyle
Immediate Action Pugilism 201
Boxing for Self-Preservation in the Weapons Based Environment – the Next Step
In IAP 101, we built the tools and methods and concepts needed to survive the sudden assault, and developed the ability to integrate our H2H techniques with external weapons in order to defend ourselves and our loved ones. In IAP 201, we go to the next step – developing the multidisciplinary tactician who can choose the right response in the right context. We go deeper into the needs and issues of using striking techniques in a modern Weapons Based Environment (WBE) including what happens with multiple attackers. All techniques and concepts are high percentile applications which span a wide spectrum of confrontations. Training consists of presentation, drilling and Force-On-Force evolutions providing attendees with immediate feedback regarding the efficacy of the skills learned. The goal of this course is not to create a professional boxer or MMA competitor. The objective is to provide attendees who have limited training time and resources with solid fundamentals geared toward the increasingly violent weapon based environments they may live, work and/or travel within. All the techniques presented are based on time tested Boxing and MMA Striking methodologies and are the best, most functional and high percentage moves and tactics available.
Requirements: Boxing gloves (at least 12oz or bigger unless per-authorized by the instructor), loose, comfortable but durable clothes, mouthpiece, cup, notebook, and an open mind. MMA gloves are strongly encouraged, but are not mandatory.
Immediate Action Pugilism is divided into modules that address specific situations. Seminars/training can be customized to fit your needs by arranging for the appropriate modules to be covered. Among the topics covered by the modules include:
