It's internet/video game slang. "For the win", think in terms of competition, "a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the win!" Now just apply it randomly to mean "oh that's really good!". For example, "NOVESKE FOR THE WIN" would translate roughly to "Noveske makes a superlative AR-pattern carbine, quite possibly the best on the market, and I have chosen to pursue the purchase of one of these fine weapons...and by the way, I am an eleven year old nerd". Often it will be acronymed as "FTW", not to be confused with "WTF" (What The F**k) even if it does ellicit that response. It goes without saying that transposing the two acronyms can drastically change the meaning of a phrase, i.e., "Noveske FTW" would be quite positive while "Noveske WTF" would make little sense unless "Noveske" was replaced by "Oly Arms" or "Socialism".
As for "Fail", it is tied to the endless stream (I've seen at least 87) of pictures of misfortune on the internet, showing bad situations or mistakes labeled with the word "FAIL". It appears to be a shorthand way of pointing out that something is a failure, catastrophe, embarrassment, or other such bad situation. It is not a direct relationship, but "FAIL" could be considered the opposite of "For The Win". It is often modified by "Epic", to indicate the utmost degree of fail, i.e., "Pres. McCain = Fail" whereas "Pres. Obama = EPIC FAIL".
