Best 1911 carry handgun off the shelf $1,000 or under

Trying to get a opinion on what everyone thinks is the best 1911 carry handgun right off the shelf. There is a caveat ,it has to be at least 4" and $1,000 or under in cost.So give me your opinions.Sorry I forgot to say barrel length 4" or more.I had a Colt Compact but it was heavy and actually my Govt model felt lighter.

Four inches or shorter or four inches or longer?

What features are you looking for on the gun?

Am going to assume .45ACP. If you are open to 5 inch gov then my first thoughts would be a Springfield Loaded, maybe a Range Officer with the sights replaced. Used you might be able to get a higher end model for not much more. Saw a lightly used TRP go for $700 local.

And all that said, read around and I am sure you can find bunches of threads on the question.

You should be able to find Colt XSEs and their CCGs for right around your price range. A hundred bucks more gets you into guns like the Springfield MC Operators and Colt's Rail Gun if you want a railed variant. Given a good example paired with mags it likes, I wouldn't expect to encounter any problems with the aforementioned.

Palmetto State Armory has both the XSE in the Steel and Aluminium frame variants (O1980SXE and O1880XSE I think are the model numbers) for $874.

I have a Kimber Elite Carry I bought back in the late 90's. this one is out of a run of 1200 from of their Custom Shop. That gun is seldom out of arms reach from me. I have several different carry methods depending on the weather.

It has a bushingless barrel and for a .45 is surprisingly accurate.

my eyes like the rest of me are getting a little old (can't see the sights without my reading glasses and can't see the target with them). so I installed a crimson trace grip safety. Awesome tool in dim light but in bright sun forget it. Course I am a really good point and shoot shooter too.

Under a grand? I would probably spring for a Colt XSE then add a magwell and change the sights. I am not an aluminum frame 1911 fan so I would get the steel one.
