It goes well beyond AR owners - even the very well educated jerks that go buy $10k mountain bikes, (basically dentists, lawyers, MDsm, etc.) will happily ingest moronic catalog copy instead of learning about simple things like leverage rates, instantaneous centers, and damping circuits. It's just even worse for firearms because of just how little use most see, so the internet just becomes a giant pointless reverberation box for catalog copy PR nonsense with no basis in engineering, but the voices of reason for people who have actually ran the effing things get ran off like heretics because they care about something other than how nice a sculpture it is.

And also have a longer length of pull than the M16A2 stock assembly with the stock fully extended.

    This.
Also its interesting to see how different set ups will work. Sure it may be pointless, but its nice to try out and experiment with.
Blak1508 mentioned that he's already tried it, and it wasnt any good, whereas johnson likes the set up.

It's ridiculous how some people get worked up over someone's choice of receiver extensions and then insult their intelligence for their choices.

An LMT 6 position tube is $45, a VLTOR 5 position tube is $44, and the VLTOR A5 tube is $55. We're not talking about a lot of money here, folks. I have purchased and used the Geissele SD-3G and SD-E and in the end sold them to go back to my factory mil-spec LMT trigger and now the ALG ACT. Sure, the Geissele triggers felt better but they didn't make a difference in group size. So in other words, I will spend hundreds of dollars to see if something works better than what I currently have and if I don't like it or if the metrics don't show any improvements then I'll go back to the original or try something else.

Yeah that is the nature of the beast, spending a metric ton of dollar bills just to test an item. At least the industry has a pretty nice turn around in parts, you usually get somewhere close to what you paid for if it is in any good condition and I have no issues buying someones seconds, at least on here.

I am surprised the Geissele trigger did not tighten your groups seriously, it has def improved mine, I use the SD-E also, which to date is my favorite trigger.

When I ran the JP buffer I just did not gain a benefit from it, I was shooting M855 LC all the way to mach 10, 70 grain loads and I still had functioning issues. But that could be for a bunch of reasons and not the JP, although the moment I switched it out I was GTG. When you do testing send me a PM or start a post with your findings. I am going to dig up my recordings in my DOPE book for that day and see actually what was going on. Maybe my stick just did not like the the JP unit.

OP best of luck with your build and I think you will have a nice setup. The saying "To each their own" is always revenant and even with operator advice I did not always follow it, some things I had to learn the hard money way and others seemed to work out, what is great is we have a place to ask for advice should we choose to and a platform in which is so modular that it can be changed out with two pins. I think you have a great starting point, do yourself a favor and when you get the build into a final configuration, post your builds journey on the custom build section. Best of luck brother.

OP, did you ever get the rest of the parts for this build? I got to shoot some groups through a CLE Krieger barreled upper and it shot great.

Blak, I went to the range earlier this week with M4C member rjacobs to try out his Viper PST 2.5-10x32mm and shot this group with the ALG ACT trigger and his reloads. He has the SSA-E trigger and it felt fantastic. It's much easier than what I was used to because I didn't have to concentrate with the trigger pull as much but the proof is in the pudding. Is it possible that I could've shrank this group even more with the SSA-E or SD-E? Maybe, but I'm happy with the performance of the ACT for $60.

The scope was also set at 6x because I was planning on getting the Razor Gen II 1-6x24mm for this "recce" build and wanted to see if that max magnification was sufficient for precision.

I didn't bring my regular A5 equipped lower because this session was mainly about trying out his scope. I'll compare the two the next time I'm out at the range by myself. I did notice that my 3 year old cut down PMAG wasn't locking back the bolt most of the time but we tried 3 of his 10rd PMAGs and 2-3 of the 10rd Lancer AWMs and they all locked back so the issue was with my magazine. I originally thought it could be a spring issue and/or an issue with the suppressor attached.

I got everything but the A5 stuff, it is back ordered through brownells... Cle has my bolt so it's still going to be a while until I get the barrel and bolt back.

Other than that, I have to do some Cerakote work and it will be done!

I also run the Vltor A5 extension and buffer......I changed the spring and went with a Tubbs Flat Wire buffer spring in it......very sweet setup on my Mk 12.

    Finished her up!!!

Hey M4 Carbine... its been a little while since I have been over (since the new site has launched). Since I can not find my last thread to post/update, I figured I would just start a few one! Here are a few pics of my SPR rifle as well as the build specs on it. I would love to hear any feedback on it or thoughts on things that you think I should change down the road. Sadly, I will not get to shoot her until at least March.

    Specs:

    Seekins Billet Upper/Lower
    Fortis Rev Rail
    Seekins Low Mass Bolt
Compass Lake 1:7 18" SPR barrel cut to the bolt
    Giessele SD-E Trigger
    LaRue Apeg Grip
    Seekins Adj Gas Block
Magpul STR Stock with Battle Industries SAPR
    Vltor A5 Buffer System
    KNS Pins and Springs
    Raptor Charging Handle
    Lantac Dragon Break
    Vortex Viper PST 2-10
Cerakote: Spartan Bronze and Midnight Bronze done by Freedom Color

When the photos were taken, I did not have the glass on her yet. I was also missing a few other parts (they are there now and I will get updated pics in the next few days). I did want to share so you all could see the color of it though. I am always looking for feedback and thoughts across the board!
