Compliments my other ARs pretty well and it really is a dream to shoot.

I have kept it very simple and on a carbine lower - using an str to balance it out a little.

Waiting for some black Friday sales to see if I can either pick up an A2 conversation kit or and A5. Will also eventually pick up a kac m5 rail to fancy it up.

I love shooting it w irons.

Not the best looking, but it's a work in progress and I love it.
Get a good rear sight and an A2 stock. I just took my new rifle out today and completely forgot how nice it is to shoot. I mean that in a sentimental way, and a practical way. No muzzle blast, very smooth, and who doesn't like having a rifle?
Why do the loudest do the least?

Looking sharp! If you snagged an H3 or H2 buffer it would smooth things out even more over a carbine buffer.

Thanks all - yeah the stock and hand guard are temporary...

I am going to look out for a good fixed rear sight - possibly a carry handle.

I have a Spikes buffer in (it's on a factory complete Spikes lower) and it has been pretty smooth so far.

Still going back and forth on if I want to do A5 or A2.

If I can snag a complete BCM a2 lower from grant or Ranier I may just go that route.

In my opinion, AR's are similar to old cars.
We "tinker" with them adding this or that, going for 100% stock, all out horsepower, or a combination of the two for our particular tastes or wants/needs.
Cool job getting it like you want it man. Keep it up, it's looking great!

While I certainly don't need one of these, I carried an M16A4 for a few months at the beginning of my first Iraq deployment. I'd like to have one, but I'm not sure that I'll add the KAC handguard. There's a lot of heavy rail on that handguard with limited use - I had a VFG and nothing else on mine in Iraq, and it basically just made it heavier and less balanced. I might keep it simple with the original handguards as a momento of my time as a cadet...

It really is a classic, good-looking rifle. Congrats,

    Dave

I have the exact same thing except CTR stock. It is my favorite rifle. Practically though, I would grab the SBR in almost every scenario. It is a nice, "here you go bud" rifle because I think the entire cost was around 800 after everything.

The only things that matter are that it looks good to you and that it shoots well. I'm going to do an 80% next year and plan to make it a standard 20" rifle.

    Update.

Loving the 20" BCM so far and have it almost where I want it...

-Added moe handguards, cantilever rail panel and vg - set up like all my other ARs. Simple perfection.
-BCM blem lower from Grant to make it whole
-Picked up another PRO, but may switch to an A2 handle though to keep this an open site fun gun and I really like the feel better without the extra weight...
-Have a BCM comp I need to put on
-Still debating on the A5... Already soft shooting and will be even more so with the comp. Maybe I'll wait for a sale.

    Edit - pic added.

The A5 system with the A5H4 buffer would be stupid smooth on your gun. More than most comps, IMHO.

Very nice setup! I'm a free float fan myself, but those MOE hand guards are very compelling.

Surprised you aren't going with a magnified scope of some kind, didn't you buy this for some longer-range stuff? But irons are a must have on any gun IMO, and if keeping it open-sighted makes you happy then stick with it!
