The 20 inch upper is completely under-appreciated now I feel. Practically speaking, the longer sight radius for irons and soft shooting from the rifle length gas system make the 20 inch extremely pleasurable to shoot, and also extremely accurate. On the practicality side though, I feel that the 18 inch barrel length bridges the gap between the 20 inch and 16 inch extremely well by being relatively easy to handle, and sacrifices very little over a 20 inch barrel when it comes to ballistics.

I'm very tempted to pick one up.
I came across those VDI barrels a couple weeks ago. I'm VERY intrigued by them, and I could totally see myself with one of those 18" ultra lites for a future project. But my concern is the relative lack of information about the brand. I know the company is closely associated with (if not part of) Adams Arms. While not a company who I've heard makes "junk," they're also not high on the A+ manufacturer lists that I usually see. I can find almost no information about the accuracy of said barrels.

Not that I'm looking for a .5 MOA match barrel, but it would be nice to know where the starting point is (1-2 MOA would be pretty adequate).

Thread got me curious, I went and threw the TA-33 on my Colt A4 rifle. Handles really well. That optic may just have to stay on there for a while. If 20 inch rifles come back in fashion, I'm blaming this thread.

SLR's sentry 6 is smaller in size relative to their sentry 7 .750" gas block.

    Update!

Very happy with my choice to go 20"!!!!

Compliments my other ARs pretty well and it really is a dream to shoot.

I have kept it very simple and on a carbine lower - using an str to balance it out a little.

Waiting for some black Friday sales to see if I can either pick up an A2 conversation kit or and A5. Will also eventually pick up a kac m5 rail to fancy it up.

I love shooting it w irons.

Not the best looking, but it's a work in progress and I love it.
