Picked this up today for $1K. It's a Springfield M1A loaded with black synthetic stock, came with 2 20 rounds mags, and 60 rounds of PMC 147gr FMJs. Only has 20 rounds fired through her.

Congrats and enjoy. I had a M1A, replica M14, really enjoyed it. Sold it, but sure enjoyed it while I had it.

The M1A was remove from the US inventory because it was ultimately a rifle that was neither an effective semi-auto rifle nor a full auto rifle. The ammo was heavy, the capacity limited, the full auto function was nearly useless. It was the end of an era. A fine piece of engineering, but ... for a different time and era.
The M1A is a grease rifle. Use the TM to understand where and how to apply grease to the gun. Also, when you shoot the rifle, pay attention to the front site. I have seen the front site loosen and shift due to recoil.
Were it my rifle, I would put a GI butt plate on it.
You got a great deal. Enjoy your rifle and shoot the crap out of it!

At $1,000, it's a good deal.
I have a maintenance protocol for the M-14/M1A I developed for my last employer. If you want a copy, PM me and I will send it to you.
FM 23-8 is a good resource.
