    300BLK pistol build, barrel questions

I'm building my first 300BLK pistol. It will be used both loud and suppressed. I'm currently stuck trying to decide between two 8.5" barrels. The first is a MAS Defense 8.5" melonite nitrade 1x8 barrel. The other is an Aero Precision 8.5" QPQ 1x7 pistol barrel. Does anyone have any experience with either barrel or company's barrels? If so, do you know what size gas ports they use and if the barrel threads are concentric with the bore for suppressor use? I would hate to buy a barrel to find out the threads are off and not be able to use my SDN-6.

    Thanks

I have not used that specific barrel, but I have dealt with MAS Defense and I was thoroughly impressed with their customer service as well as the quality and price of their barrels. Maybe try giving them a call. Email always worked great for me as well, and that way, you have whatever answer they give you in writing, just in case you were to find it to be misinformation.

That's sound advice, and thanks for the info on MAS Defense. I've sent emails to both companies with specific questions, just waiting to hear back. Also, are there any pros or cons to the whole 1 in 7 vs. 1 in 8 twist for 300blk in an 8-9" bbl?

From what I've read, most manufactures moved from 1/8 to 1/7. The biggest advantage is bullet stability for heavier grain (I may be wrong). I don't think in 300 BLK it's going to make a whole lot of difference, however AAC and Noveske I believe both switched to 1/7, so it probably wouldn't hurt to follow their lead.

Aero makes some real quality stuff, I have an upper and lower from them that I am now building a 300 Blackout pistol on. I have an 8.5" CMMG barrel on order, I have used CMMG barrels in 12.5 and 16" 300 BO with great success, took some Texas hogs with the 16" last month (but my real kill was a 350# monster boar..one shot from AAC Handi Rifle, 300 BO, 125 gr Sierra TNT).
    Forgot CMMG barrels are 1/7

Personally live Aero as well have had great quality with their uppers/lowers in builds. What kind of accuracy you expecting in an 8.5"? I'm still at a loss for length on my build.

Thanks for all the info and replies. I think I'm going to end up ordering an Aero 8.5" barrel. They are fairly close by and I've heard enough good about them to give it a shot. As far as accuracy goes, being that this will be more of a PDW for LE application, 2" or better grouping for 100 yards and in should be adequate.

I have some of their lowers/uppers and have dealt with them a bit. I really like them and customer service is great. Their tiny little shop turns out some good stuff. I also like them cause I'm at JBLM like 15 mins away.

Any experience with Radical? They have insane prices on some melonite barrels.
