BCM 14.5" Enhanced LW range report, finally

Having had such awesome luck with an 11.5" BCM LW I decided to try their newest offering in "budget priced" barrels. I am more than pleased. The one flyer in the 24.8 gr group I could not account for... Still considering the 24.6 and 24.8 impact area is virtually the same, I'm loading some 24.7 grain loads for tomorrow morning.

Ammunition was all virgin Winchester cases circa 1995 case weight 92.5 grains or less. Federal 205 match primers and AR Comp powder loaded to 2.254" COAL complete the specifications. An Oehler 35P placed 15 feet from the muzzle captured the velocities.

Yes the lower is stamped... don't get excited. ACOG TAO1NSN 4X, Giessele HiSpeed match trigger.

300 yard attempt, two best loads to date, Nosler 55 BT's left, Hornady 60 V-Maxes right. Velocity and BC's are nearly identical so poi is about the same too, sweet.Sight adjustment after the first 3 top right (other two bumped off, Oops!) Getting the Giessele sear just right take some time.

Thanks, but the credit goes to BCM for the awesome product.
Assembly is too basic to brag about, and the function and feel of the middy gas is a part of the Enhanced name I suspect.

I was so spoiled by the first BCM barrel I had to try a second...

Those are excellent results. That makes choosing this upper for my second AR very attractive. This is near the accuracy I've seen from my BCM SS410 upper with 69gr SMK factory loads.

I haven't gotten into reloading. Is there a factory load(s) you'd recommend for the 14.5 ELW?

Just get several different Match loads, and shoot 5-10 round groups to see what your barrel likes the best. FWIW, the Winchester Match 69 gr. SMK's shoot better than the FGMM 69 gr. SMK's in my 16" ELW.

I believe the enhanced naming refers to the unique taper of the barrel. Shaped similarly to a carrot.

I don't shoot factory, but my coyote hunting partner has gotten some of our local PD's 55 grain Sierra issue ammo and it is a near twin for my reloaded 55 grain Nosler load. Simple trick is to load to your barrels harmonic node which is velocity based in part. If factory, try as many types as possible, and if you find a winner BULK UP on that.

As to the enhanced, I know it is about the profile or barrel taper, just a marketing ploy.

That looks great. You HAVE to try some 77s. I bet you can shave an inch off of the 300 yard group. You're at MOA at 300 which is pretty kick ass for the relatively light bullets at that distance. I have to think 77s will do even better.
