Not sure why I would do that...I switched uppers, went from the CQB MRP in 16.1 and 10.5 (suppressed) DI, to the newer slimmer profile MRP 12" piston IOT use suppressor full time.
To each his own.

Not only is a piston a solution to a problem that doesn't exist, it's CAUSING a problem. You're 0 for 2. Really, you're 0 for 3, if you factor in that your piston is louder suppressed than a DI upper can be.
It's not being a 'hater' if you can articulate the issues.

You're a hater because you're in a piston thread asking about a specific issue telling him to sell it all and buy something else. He has what he wants and the 'issue' really isn't an issue after all but that doesn't fit your mission, does it? I mean, how easy would it be to say 'You know, I've never really had to access my piston or DI system in the field in an emergency situation where a few extra minutes were the difference between life or death so don't sweat it' ?? Oh, that's right... wouldn't give you the opportunity to say 'Piston sucks' would it?
Problem that doesn't exist? I love when DI nazis say this. I shoot suppressed a lot and am thankful the rifles I fire the most are piston driven because my DI rifles are much messier, run hotter & blow gas back into my face at a much higher rate. Any one of those are enough of a reason for some and others don't care about the entire list so who cares? If it's not right for you or you can't see the benefits then keep your DI and your opinion to yourself. Honestly, nobody gives a shit what you think and this isn't a Piston v DI debate so if you don't like the topic STFU & GTFO.
I get sick of all the narrow-minded 'My shit is better than your shit' blowhards on this forum.
Articulate that god of guns.

At the very least, the OP is meeting the criteria stated here by Larry Vickers. Paraphrasing along the lines of: A piston AR can be a good thing if used in conjunction with a short barrel, suppressor, select fire. The OP is doing both. If he's going to use an MRP, which is an excellent option, then he's going to have to make some choices.
I personally wouldn't worry about being able to remove the plug. It won't get dirty enough for you to want to regularly clean it. When it does get that nasty, then removing the muzzle device (a FH in this case) is pretty easy and the effort involved would mirror the need to actually clean the plug/area. All you really want to do is be able to rotate the plug b/w the Fire and Suppressed settings. The 12.5 definitely has less gas blowing back in your face than the 10.5, 14.5, or 16 barrels.
As a last resort, I would look into removing material from the plug...depending on how much you need to remove.
Never mind.
