Well I've finally decided to commit. I've built an AR for every purpose I should have one, but was undecided on whether to pursue an LR-308 build or just build AR-15's for my friends, I picked up an Aero M5 upper from the E&E that came with an RE tube, I think a RE-10, its long like a rifle tube, the spring and a rifle buffer about 6-7 months ago. All brand new. This weekend, I ran across an Aero Precision lower receiver and picked it up at a gun show. And while I still may go the Rifle length, because I have a PRS on my 5.56 SPR that I may rob the PRS from my SPR and put on my LR-308, I am also considering using Magpuls SR-25 RE tube and go the "A5" route adjustable stock route. Plus I do have a lot of AR-15 spare parts some I may be able to use, and Burris XTR II 5-25x50 glass to mount. So I'll be reading through this thread catching up on what BCG you guys are having the most luck with. Barrel-wise, the plan is for an 18". My SPR Is an 18" and I find the length manageable, and will also have a 762-SDN-6 can (in jail now for for 6 months). Barrel wise I'm thinking a Ballistic Advantage (Hanson if I go mid; Performance if I go rifle.) or a Faxon barrel, buy I'm open to options and recommendations. I'd like to keep it in the $330 and downward range. So I started at the beginning of the thread and working my way through it learning. Hopefully when I come out the other side I will know what BCG to run, what gas system and maybe even a barrel recommendation or two, along with rails. I'm pretty excited and also a little concerned that this platform seems to be much more temperamental than the AR-15. I built all of my ARs with the mindset that they should be combat ready weapons. They are stable, they are a known variable. I'm confident in that. I hope I can get to the same level of confidence with the LR-308 build. Thank you to all who have gone before me and provided all the intel.
