I've got one of the last 6920s that was made with the large Colt trigger pins .

It's free floated with a Troy Alpha and has a 2 MOA Aimpoint .

At 100 yards I can get 2 MOA with good quality 55 grain ammo .

The larger the grain of bullet I use the more accurate it seems .

    62 grain = 1.5-1.75 inch groups .
    69 grain = 1.25 to 1.5 inch groups .

On the very few occasions I've had to shoot 77 grain bullets
benched at 100 yards I averaged 1 inch to 1.25 inch groups with
several 7/8 inch groups . ( although I did borrow a magnifier for that )

These are 5 shot groups .

Can't wait to do a fair comparison between my old 6920 and my new BCM
using that pricy 77 grain ammo and a magnifier .

    I know I did!

I shot my first year of competition and did a three day Tigerswan class with a bone stock 6920. Borrowed a VTAC sling and put some duct tape on my right middle finger to keep the receiver from eating me up.

I was getting solid 1.25-1.5 MOA out of my DD MK18 FSP Equipped 6920. Loads were M193, MK262, and BH 5.56 50gr TSX.

I kept mine simple - Magpul trigger guard, Magpul backup sight, sling, and Aimpoint Pro. I plan on adding a BCM ambi soon and that will be it. I try to practice with both the backup/pro every time I get out.
I expend tremendous amounts of energy and time merely to be normal.

With a bench rest and patience (smooth slow trigger) you should be able to achieve sub 2" groups at 100 yds. After lots of practice and maybe a Geissele trigger as well as good ammo you should be able to do better.

Being as the wind is blowing here about mach 90 today, I went and shot real quick at 25yds to see if it was on paper. Hell the damn thing is already sighted in perfect for 25 yrs. If/when this wind ever quits I'll get it dialed in at 100. I wasn't quit sure if I'd like the ar thing I can tell you though after just 60rds today, this is going to be an expensive gun to keep in ammo. I love it, definitely hooked. Now just need to take some classes

Well supposedly these "mil spec" guns are supposed to be around 4 MOA. I find 3-4 MOA to be about rigt, in several rifles, with a mix of ammo. All about the same spread, with sligt variations in POI.

I had a Colt SOCOM barrel in a RIS II that was an all day, every day, any kind of weather 1.2MOA 69 grain slinger with a Aimpoint M4 or TA01NSN ACOG with my sorry ass jerkin' the trigger.

Excellent barrel. It would still do it at 12K rounds the last time I shot it...

I have a few 6920's in the safe. While I no longer use one for work purposes, I think highly of the Colt 6920, so much so that I have one set aside for each of my kids. Those old enough have already been given one. I did carry one for a while as my Patrol Rifle as an inter-city LEO. And I would do so again and be comfortable doing so.

With the right ammunition, the 6920 setup is capable of under 2" at 100 yds. Some will get you very close to 1".

Keep in mind we are talking about the accuracy of the gun. To utilize this accuracy potential, the shooter must posses the skill to utilize it. You may also need optics other than a RDs or irons, depending on the shooter. But optics and shooter skill are a different topic than the mechanical accuracy potential of the gun, in my opinion.

But even if the gun performed in the 2"-3" range at 100 yds, it would still be serviceable for the intended tasks expected of it. At least for the tasks I use one for.
