I don't know. It seems to me there still is a void in the 9mm world that needs to be filled. If the Springfield RO had normal sights, I would have one. Currently the Springfield Custom Shop 9mm Operator from Warren Tactical was at the top of my 9mm want list. But if Colt makes a 9mm rail gun, and it's in the $1000-$1200 range it will be a huge hit. Who else makes a quality production 9mm in that price range? Seems every good 9mm 1911 is pushing $2k from what I've seen.

Completely agree. There are 9mm 1911 offerings out there, but not nearly enough options at reasonable prices that still function.

Looks interesting, and its almost as good looking as a "Real 1911" 45 cal that is. Seriously, I have thought about the 9mm 1911, and probably end up with one some day, but for some reason I still think a 1911 should be 45.

It seems that a 9mm 1911 would have all the same, lets say non positive issues many associate with the 1911 platform, heavy, limited capacity, and the ever finicky/ not reliable comments. Do most of you see this as an alternate caliber in the 1911 for CCW or just another range gun?

Either way, I still think the 1911 is a thing of beauty, and one of the finest pistols ever made, there is just something about one that I will always love.

My reasoning for wanting a 9mm 1911 is that I don't currently own a 1911 (blasphemy I know), and all my pistols are 9mm. I really have no desire to buy any other calibers. I already have a good carry gun, and I have 2 full size pistols that hold 18 or 20 rounds already depending on the magazine. The 1911 would be a range gun mostly, but at the same time I want something that could be used as a defensive gun if needed.

I would want a 9mm with a ramped barrel, Colt has been reluctant to do that with their 5" 1911s--even their 10mm.

It'd be nice if they also made a very robust framed gun that would make a good 9x23 conversion platform. So far their only good option for that is their 38 Super gov't--which needs the frame cut to accept a 9x23 ramped.

You CAN run one without a ramp, since the 9x23 is a thick cartridge, but I'd rather not.

I have wished for 9mm from Colt for some time. I went and bought a Colt .38 super auto that I just love. I was thinking about getting a 9mm barrel fitted. I think just spending the money on super brass that I would spend on the barrel fitting is a better option since I reload.

Colt, how about a lightweight commander in 9mm or .38 super auto? Make mine blued please..

New 9mm Colt 1911's are available, I found mine at the Ronnie Barrett's Outpost Armory in Tennessee. I bought it in September of 2013 and my 14 year old daughter loves shooting it so much I gave it to her. I have about 300 rounds through it and it shoots great! My only problem with it is no ambidextrous safety. I was told that Colt makes a lot of these for the Australian market and that is why they are hard to find.

How have I never known about the O1992? I don't remember seeing it on Colt's website.

Look's like there's gonna be Commander Rail Gun's as well, both steel and lightweight.
