Poor sights, no checkering, old style thumb safety and grip safety.

Colt needs to look at their competitors offerings in the market as they still don't get it.

The one Grant is talking about? It's a GI model, they're all like that. They have an XSE in 9mm in that catalog too.

Although, they probably should reevaluate their options. Springfield's Range Officer can easily be found for only a few dollars more than Colt's government model and offers so much more in the pistol. Plus they're also running their Gear Up & Go promotion, which also beats Colt's IMO. Come on Colt...

Because there are still plenty of people who think that if JMB didn't put it on a 1911 then it doesn't need to be there. Plus some people want to add their own stuff....start from the basic model

Of course some folks still shoot M1 garands.....

I would think that 1911 GI market is very small. Would be interesting to see Colt's .45ACP GI sales numbers for the pst few years vs. their modern versions.

I still shoot a M1, where I live it is more sensible than a .223, unless your shooting prairie dogs.
LOL, could not pass that up.

I agree. Both the 1911's I use on a regular basis started out as Colt Gov Models and were sent to gunsmiths.

I love my M1. A government model works for several reasons, but not when a much better gun can be bought for almost the same exact price.

I hate this thread. Every time in the past I had the 1911 9mm itch I bought a tricked out Hi Power. But now I think next trip back home I am going to shop for a high end 1911 9mm.

Of the higher end shops who makes the best 1911 9mm?
