I was waiting patiently for this Ranger 3, had not stumbled upon the Spartan 3. Any reason not to go with it instead?
It would be living happily ever after on an 11.5".

What's wrong with the thread-on Gemtech options? Ti components?

    Thinking about a dedicated 10.3 ...

I've heard good things about the Trek series. Got a chance to hear one and I'd be a buyer. Couldn't tell a difference between that and the G5. If I had $800 it dollars for a can on a dedicated SBR I'd look hard at the Trek-T

Basically, the titanium tubes and related welds can't take the repeated exposure to temperatures seen with limited rapid fire. Cracks and something called "hydrogen embrittlement" become apparent in short order. Not good for a thing that requires $700+ and 6 month wait to replace. Titanium baffles on a rifle wear significantly faster than stainless steel.

It seems apparent that no one has overcome these limitations with titanium, they are simply warrantying the cans with the expectation that not many users will run them hard enough, long enough to need to claim the warranty.

I'd be a little leery of running a thread-on can on an SBR that didn't have at least a full inconel baffle stack, out of concern for the longevity of the can's sound performance. The blast baffle takes most of the erosive brunt, but the following baffles still wear. SBR's greatly increase this rate of wear, thus the advent of cans with all-inconel or stellite baffle stacks and Silencerco's "hoplon" baffle. I wouldn't run my Ranger 2 (which seems very similar in design to the Spartan 3) on anything shorter than my 16", personally.
Given Ti's proposed limitations, it's interesting that Gemtech claims it's 556LE meets the SOCOM requirements...

To put these ultralight TI cans into perspective.

A well known precision rifle can maker recommends to not go over 700-800 degrees with their cans.

Assuming that 1 round of 5.56 raises the suppressor temperature 7-15 degrees (dependent on barrel length, powder load etc. ).....

Worse case scenario: On a 95 degree day It would only take 40 rounds to hit 700 degrees.

I would have no problem being a LEO, or putting a TI can on a spouse's ultralight build.. but I wouldn't abuse it in a class and definitely not on full auto.

The Spartan 3 does have an inconel baffle.
I can't seem to turn up any info regarding iconel baffles in the spartan. Viper could I bother you to point me in the right direction?
