AR build light primer strike problem fixed but what caused it?

Okay so my most recent build was having a problem. It was having light primer strikes but only when I was doing hammer drills (double taps).

I had narrowed it down to three things that could be causing it. 1 I was using a BCM h2 buffer with a cheap ATI spring. 2 the trigger group was out of spec. Or 3 gas system wasn't aligned properly.

Info about gun. Anderson arms lower receiver with Aeroprecison upper receiver. Daniel Defense 14.5" CHF barrel. DD low pro gas block. BCM BCG. BCM charging handle. PSA lower parts kit.

So first thing I did was double check the gas block and all seemed good. Next I was in the middle of another build and decided to order the Spikes Tactical ST2 tube, spring and buffer kit so figured I would just order two sets and see if it worked. If that didn't work I was going to get a new trigger group.

Well went to the range today with new buffer kit installed and took another lower with a different trigger group just in case. The rifle ran flawlessly with the new buffer combo installed even running crappy tulammo. Needless to say I am happy that all is well now but I am just trying to understand why it was happening with the BCM h2 buffer and ATI spring. All feedback is welcome and much appreciated.

If I had to guess, your BCG wasn't moving all the way forward, hence the light strikes.

I was thinking that. I figured the spring wasn't strong enough and not fully engaging the BCG but just wanted more info. Thanks for the response.

If it was the spring, then it should have happened on most shots. Suspect it was due to carrier bounce, as it happened on the second of double taps. Carrier bounce can cause hammer to not contact firing pin correctly, as the carrier blocks the back of fp from the hammer when the carrier is slightly retracted.

That makes a ton of sense.
    Thanks!

So would the cheap spring cause the carrier bounce. It's running perfect now that I replaced the entire thing. Im figuring that it wasn't the BCM buffer.

You do realize what a light primer strike it and what causes it, right? I think your terminology is confused.

Well I pulled the trigger on a double tap and got a bunch of nothing. Inspected the round and there was a light dimple on the primer. So would that be a light primer strike? I am just trying to figure out exactly what happened and how to prevent it for future builds. Please educate me. I know what parts caused it but I want to know the why.

Did the hammer fall when you pulled the trigger?

Yes. It happened more than 20 times. Only on fast double taps. After switching everything out no more problems.
