Going off subject a bit, does anyone posting here have any experience with the Daniel Defense M4A1 URG or complete rifle itself???

I picked up a used Colt 6920 M4A1 SOCOM, swapped the barrel for a Colt 14.5"SOCOM barrel, installed a DD FDE SOCOM II rail, pinned a DD Extended FH, ran with the stock Collt SOCOM Matech rear sight and installed a KAC FDE folding front sight. It's about as close the the real deal as I could get.
Were any uppers with a FSB converted to have a RIS II M4A1?
If so was the gas block cut down or was it replaced?
Thinking about it more my question really is:
Has the Army ever taken barrels with a FSB and put A RIS II on it?
If they did, did they shave the FSB or did they just put a MK12 gas block on the barrel that had already been drilled for pins?
Thanks
A SOPMOD BlockII clone is a fantastic money-pit. Just in all the optics, you could spend thousands and thousands.
BRB, gotta go buy some lottery tickets.
Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus (519 BC – 430 BC) Power should only be given to those that want it least.
Just a small issue that may be of use to someone contemplating this build.
The DD M4A1 RIS II is machined to be used with a Carbine length gas system. In order to use a Mid length gas system and the DD Mk12 gas block, you will need to trim the gas block to fit under the handguard. The bottom of the gas block will need to be shaved down by a couple of mm along each lower shoulder.
I built a couple of M4A1s and Mk18s using pretty much the exact components, just for fun, but have since rebuilt them into more useful guns, and used the parts to build other configurations that I find more suited to the way I use them.
Regards.

word on the street is that a mid length RIS II setup can be constructed, without any alterations, using BCM parts (BCM gas block etc.)? Actually, I think I read where BCM removes the M203 hangers from inside of the RIS II rail, but that's a very minor and impermanent alteration. Ive always thought about picking up a BCM middy/RIS II BFH upper (too late now). I really like the feel and strength of the RIS II. The only thing that kept me from pulling the trigger was the weight factor. Kinda regret not making a move now.
I had a RIS II on a KAC SR15 mod.0 upper (kAC intermediate gas system). I used a pinned Vltor gas block.
M203 hanger were not installed, the rail went on with no issue.
