I never had a problem with it but I chose to replace it with a Larue mount after a couple hundred rounds for good measure.
I have two PROs with the stock QRP mount. That big-ass knob does seem like an odd engineering choice, but I don't have any problems with it. Works fine, plenty secure in my experience with at least a few carbine courses and thousands of rounds. No loosening issues, no zero problems.
If I were you, I'd try it with the stock mount, replace it if it doesn't meet your expectations.
Goofy big knob aside, it seems some people have zero issues with the mount staying put while others report horror stories. Perhaps a QC issue?
I used the stock mount for a while but found it working its way loose at not-so-good times. I thought there was something wrong with my rifle or the PRO itself! Nope..just a mount that kept coming loose.
Replaced it with this:

...and never had wandering zero problems again.
(this was on my Colt 6940)
So when I buy another PRO for my newer 6920...I will go ahead and spend another 100 on another mount....well worth it.

There is a qd conversion piece for about $30 for the pro mount IIRC. I doubt its returns to zero, but if you are not swapping scopes often, it shouldn't matter.
That said, I had my buddy get a combo with a larue mount-buy once-cry once.
Will the Aimpoint rubber cover work with the Larue or ADM mounts? I'm still using the supplied mount with no issues; rifle gets moved and bumped around from my patrol car to my POV on a daily basis. The big knob occasionally snags on my kit.
