    Using an A5 on a 20" upper

What spring and buffer combo to use? Am mulling over a 20" A1 profile upper build (with Fulton's CL 1:8 twist for the modern heavier ammo) using a PRI triangular FF handguard but don't want a fixed stock. Since the A5 is *essentially* a rifle-length buffer tube I was wondering what a good spring/buffer combo for the 20" pressures and velocities would be.

If you go with Springco, green. 5.3 or 6.08. I think the spring kit comes with the 5.3.

Seein' as how the A5 kit was engineered for a 20" rifle....

I'd try it just like it ships from VLTOR.

Exactly. My 20" BCM upper works just fine.

Ask Fulton to divulge their port size. In any case a 20" rifle with .093 or greater will cycle 100% with the A5H4 buffer and standard or green Sprinco spring.

In all seriousness, there's been very little I've personally seen that doesn't run well with the A5 system, even SBRs (suppressed and non-suppressed). But as per usual, if you're willing to spend a little more, pick up a variety of A5 buffer and rifle springs, and go with the heaviest buffer and spring tension that will still run 100%.

Exactly. But as pointed out... God knows what Fulton is porting the barrel at.

Tried calling them just now but they are not open, despite what their published business hours are. Maybe off this week? I dunno....
