Padded version of Magpul MS1 sling released today

The MS1 Padded Sling is an optimized, dedicated two-point sling that serves equally well in a one-point role when using optional adapters. Built around our MS1 slider, this system provides rapid adjustments to either lengthen or shorten the sling with no slipping once set, and no tails, loops, or other potential snag hazards. In a two-point role, the MS1 allows easy shoulder transitions, rapid adjustability for hands free rifle carry and shooting support from various positions. The MS1 system also has a series of adapters that are sold separately and based on the MS3® and MS4™ slings. By adding the appropriate adapter (available with Paraclip™ or QD Sling Swivel) for the sling, you can easily add one-point functionality to your MS1.

In addition, the MS1 Padded Sling features a unique variable-width tubular webbing which completely encloses a closed cell foam pad for extra comfort on long deployments or with heavy weapons. With no exposed padding, extra folds, or grafted together components, the MS1 Padded Sling offers a streamlined and elegant solution with superior durability and aesthetics.

It figures. I just bought another VCAS sling last week.

How does the slider work? Is there a press tab or is it just friction?

Slider works the same way as the unpadded MS1, and the new GEN 2 variants of the MS3 and MS4 that include the same construction.

It's a locking slider that simply uses some neat altered tri-glide geometry. Moves super fast and smooth, but stays put where you leave it, and more tension = more grip. Easy to find and operate even with gloves or mittens. No tails, loops, or loose ends. Tested to 10,000 cycles with sand under load. Jumpable, configurable, and takes 300+lb loads.

I've been using the non-padded version on a 590A1 for a few months, and it is the simplest, easiest adjusting sling of its type out there. You just have to unweight the sling a bit, slide the slider where you want it, and that's it. No moving parts or tabs or tails, just like Duane mentioned.

Duane knows where I get my suspicion of plastic buckles for life support equipment, but these are pretty beefy, and they're made by Magpul. I have no qualms using this sling for HD and range use. I'll leave it up to those whose opinions on combat matter to chime in with their thoughts on harder use.

I'm a fan of the closed cell padding arrangement; if there's an integral QD cup arrangement with a 2-to-1 pt doohickey, I'll probably get one despite being able to bathe in padded VCAS-QD slings.

I've got an MS4 that I don't know if its a Gen 1 or 2, but the slider doesn't work very well. Easy the lengthen but a real chore to shorten. Does this mean I have a Gen 1?

Being the eternal sling junkie, well, this looks irresistible! Gotta have one for sure!
