    Here is the stuck pin.

You're not trying to push the front pivot pin in with the rear takedown pin already in place, are you?

Another issue I found my front pivot pin won't go in with the upper in place. It can be tapped in and out without the upper in place but not with. I didn't want to resort to the hammer so I figured I would let it be until I can get some feedback from you guys. Any thoughts?

Sometimes, the pivot pin detent tends to do a great job of holding the pivot pin in place. This sometimes causes the pivot pin to appear to be stuck and not want to push in. Just take a rubber mallet or a screwdriver handle and tap it in. Pushing it in and out a few times will loosen it up a bit. It does not hurt to put a thin coat of lube on it while you are doing this. Additionally, when you put the upper on, make sure that you push the pivot pin in first and then the takedown pin.

Grease or lube the pivot pin, then attach the upper to the lower with the front pivot pin. It it goes in, try the rear take down pin. If that won't go in, check you buffer tube to make sure you didn't screw it in one turn too far, as this will push the upper forwards, misaligning the pin holes. Some uppers and lower are also very tight or on the end of spec, making the pin alignment tight. If so, you can possibly shoot the rifle and it will tend to loose up some.

I've had very tight fits between aero uppers and lowers where the front takedown areas meet. Lube and repeated function check may break it in slightly.

Ok I missed few posts up there. Yes I did have the rear take down pin in place.....no I have not resorted to a hammer yet haha. I'll do as you guys stated above. I actually put it down for now. I'm working renovating my workshop.... this will make a better workspace than the dining room table anyway. I'll see how far I get today. I can't do anything past mating the upper and lower since I have no gas block. I need the barrel assembly to take to the guy who is pinning my muzzle brake.

For me it was like finding the sweet spot with my right hand putting pressure on the receiver while pushing the pin with my left. If I was just to try and push it out like other upper/lower combos I've used, it wouldn't budge without a hammer.

Is it worth using a component made from incorrect materials just to get a coating that doesn't improve performance?
