I like my MBUS Pros a lot, but if you're planning on bouncing this thing around and keeping it irons only you would probably do well with a fixed rear. If you have a Dremel and some black spray paint, there is a guy on gunbroker who sells demilled carry handle sights for a little under $20. All you have to do is cut the handle remnants off, tape off the moving parts and hit it with some krylon and you have a pretty solid fixed rear. It's not the prettiest in the world but it's solid and a lot cheaper than the LMT. Before I got the pros that's what I did and I was pretty pleased with it. I have no affiliation other than that I bought one and it worked out well for me. If you want I can PM you the info.

The MBUS is serviceable. Don't waste money on $100-200 sights if you're saving for an optic. The optic will add more capability than a better rear sight. The MBUS will shoot 300 yards as well as any if the others providing you zero it with that in mind.

Have you tried it yet? Has it let you down? If you don't know if it's broke; why ya trying to fix it?

If the rifle really is bouncing around, I'd actually want a folding sight so that it's not sticking up and taking the brunt of the bouncing. But that's just me. The MBUS is more than adequately durable for probably 90% of shooters out there. Keep it and put the money towards an optic.

Hold overs have never really been my thing, even with mil reticles on bolt rifles.

Just point blank range. You're only shooting 300 yards.

I just got done at 350yds hitting steel plate that is 10"x18" using the mbuis standing offhand. You are right, I think switching rears is a waste. I was trying to fix a problem that didn't exist.

I was just overthinking it. Im used to the accuracy of a precision bolt rifle, need to wrap my head around the fact that this isn't a precision weapon shooting .5moa. Thanks for the advice, guess I just need to pinch pennies for a course first and foremost then an optic when the time comes, if it comes.

This depends on the intended use of the gun... but... I wouldn't settle for a flip up sight as my ONLY sighting system.. at least not on a serious use gun. Nothing against the MBUS at all... but its truly a back up sight.
