I've found 22" barrel and 1/8 twist to be good for 142gr SMK's out to 600. At 1000 I'm having some inconsistencies but most of that is I'm very new to shooting past 600 yards and I'm still getting all the techniques needed for accurate shots down.

I do wish to try some different bullets and loads. Anyone got any recommendations?

    Lapua Scenar 139

    Hornady HPBT 140

    Hornady Amax 123

    Sierra Match King 123

    Lapua Scenar 123

The Sierra 142 really thrives in longer barrels and with the 6.5-284

Best friend works for Berger, was debating on trying some 140 Hybrids from them. Any experience with Berger bullets?

    No personal experience with Berger.

I have personal experience with both Lapuas, the Hornady 140 Amax, and the Sierra 123 in a 260 Remington custom NRA match rifle built on a M70 receiver. The Hornady 123 and 140 HPBT should not disappoint based on my experience with Hornady.

As I understand, a tad better than a .260-could be wrong though but not as good as a .308.

My Berger experience is the Juggernauts in .308, 185 grain. Run them at 1k and they perform great, consistent and accurate, better ballistics that the 175 SMK for sure. Not cheap though. I use 2000MR powder with them. Also switching when supply is gone from the 4064/175 combo to 2000MR/Hornady 178 BTHP, just as accurate if not better than the SmK and a lot cheaper.

My fav is the Hor 140bthp, my barrel loves em.
Berger VLD are also nice and the better BC helps but are spendy and I can't get them to work well and feed from AI mags, it's one or the other in my barrel.
123 AMAX, 140 and 142 Sierra also shoot very well.

I want to try the Berger Hybrids as the BC would be nice when shooting past 1300 and maybe shoot well at mag friendly lengths.

    Powders.
    H4350
    H4831SC
    R17 and 19
    H100V in that order.

Yeah... Pappabear bought a thousand of those 175 pull downs for, I think, half price compared to new. They seem to be fine so far...

    From another thread...

The 6.5-284 will normally be around the 800 to 1200rnd range when she lets go... similiar to a .243 and .300 win mag.

Obviously, YMMV... as there are many Factors that come into play here.
That's pretty good. The 1200 rounds on the 284 is just too short. Turn around time at the Riflesmith is too long to be rebarreling that often.

I just got my 6.5 creed two weeks ago. I had been on the fence for a while now, not sure what I was going to end up with. I started to go towards the AR platform, but decided to go ahead with a bolt gun. I was looking for something I did not have to reload for if I did not have to. I reload almost everything I shoot.

Let me say this....it's a freaking LASER BEAM !!!!! AND did I mention fun enough to shoot all day long. My smallest group so far is .25 ( holes touching) @ 200 yards, 1 inch @ 300, and about 5 inches at 500 yards. The barrel is still breaking in a bit, but almost settled in. It's been a bit cold this week to shoot, but I got out for 3 days last week. I have a Stiller action, Bartlien barrel 26" (no brake) Chrono's @ 2807 fps. with a NF beast sitting on top of her. All I want to do is go out shooting now. It kicks a hair more than an AR I would say. I do believe it will come to be one of my favorite guns. Did I mention no reloading what so ever ????

Hornady 140's all the way. I am buying them by the case every week to get stocked up well. It will be without regrets, if you decide to go thru with it. Going to walk it out to 1000 yards this next week if there is time to get my dope.
