I'd seriously consider a Dan Wesson Specialist. I've owned both a TRP and a Specialist and the Dan Wesson was a superior gun IMO. Just an option.

See post #17. I own a Specialist and as I said even in spite of the sight issues I discussed in a different thread I have no issues recommending it. I'll actually be qualifying with it for duty work next week at the range. I did fondle and shoot the TRP when I was thinking about getting rid of my Specialist. The TRP is one of the better production 1911s on the market but I find the Specialist to be better put together. I don't like that SA puts only target sights on the TRP Operator, really limits your aftermarket options.

I missed that post. I apologize credit for first mention to vandal!
Its a keen looking pistol, a little more expensive than the trp. I guess I will just have to do some research and see. The more I see the more I like. Might have to really look at a dw. Are they bull barreled?

The Specialists run a barrel bushing with a match barrel. Also, they have a GI style guide rod and plug. You can find them on the street, with some looking, for less than MSRP.

I just took a quick look on gunbroker and most were right around 1599
Sounds about right.

I saw a SS one on arms list not that long ago for 1200.
I saw some in the 1300 price range, just not a real big fan of ss on a semi auto. Now on a revolver, it is classy
