Cool Reversing Cognitive Decline - Alzheimers

This is a study that was recently highlighted by CNN.

    Reader's digest version:

Some people with Alzheimers can reverse their symptoms by taking on multiple lifestyle factors. These include avoiding simple carbs, avoiding processed foods, getting 8 hours of sleep per night, supplementation (examples: Vitamin D, coconut oil) and medication (hormone replacement), vigorous exercise, and a delay of 12 hours between dinner and breakfast, amongst others.

Actual text of study here (see Table 1 - fascinating).

Wow. That's a lot of variables. I wonder how they controlled those for a study (adding that I have not had time to read the article). I spoke to a doctor where I work who does research in this area, he said one way to curb or possibly prevent is increasing fat in the diet.

Not a big surprise, but it's impossible to know which of them had the impact when you have that many variables. All those changes in the right direction is likely to have minor to major beneficial effects on anyone.

This study is very interesting. My Mother passed away early this Spring from the results of Alzhiemers. It does not run in our family. My Mom was one of the most heathly eating people that I know. She also kept herself busy with projects, painting, puzzles genelogy and also writting her life history. She certianly was not a typical candidate for this disease. If we had, had this info 10 years ago, who knows how it all may have turned out.

I myself worry that I may end up with this as well. Thank you for posting this.

I am afraid this is something that runs in the family. My mother passed from it, all her siblings save for one (10 kids) passed from it.

What effect this may have for me personally remains to be seen. This is a really ugly way to go. I am interested in learning about ways to defeat it as well.
