Walking trigger pins...brand new gun. Solutions?

Hey guys, quick question for everyone. I just purchased my first ar15 yesterday and today i went to the range.

I quickly discovered that there was an issue. The trigger pins appear to be walking out after only a couple of rounds. At one point, i didnt even notice that the forward most trigger pin had walked out to the point where it was about halfway out of the gun!

I believe that the rearmost pin is secure.

Ive been searching the website for solutions and so far it seems as though the KNS pins are the answer but what to get, the anti roll or the anti walk? I would assume that the anti roll would be the best option since it will prevent roll AND walk. Whether or not the benefits from the anti roll design are worth it doesnt matter, better to have than to have not and want.

Having said all of this, how are the pins normally kept in? Are they friction fit or perhaps locktited? One of the range officers at the place where i shot today said to locktite it, to me that seems like a stupid solution considering there are moving parts on the inside of the gun. Last time i checked locktite was created to prevent screws from loosening after being tightened. Since the pin isnt "screwed" in, how would locktite work?

I would like a more permanent solution.

The lower is an LMT defender with the single stage trigger.

What are my options here gents?

Thanks for any and all help.

Like i said, the front pin can move ALL the way out which to me is a problem.

Its causing alignment issues with the triggerpack so i definitely need to get this resolved.

Then I would go with a set of anti-walk pins...my vote goes to KNS Gen II...

The hammer pin is supposed to be held in by a "j" spring in the hammer. The spring may be broken or bad or bent. You might want to check that first.

The trigger pin is held in by the two "legs" of the hammer spring. You may want to check that the hammer spring is installed correctly.

When you installed the pins, there is 1 with a groove beveled into it midway through...that one goes in the hammer assembly...the other pin goes into the trigger assembly...

When you look at the hammer, you will see the j-spring in the hammer. It protrudes through the hole in the hammer and engages the middle groove in your trigger/hammer pin.

The range officer who told you to Loc-tite them is an idiot and I would disgard anything that he told you.

    1. What make and model is the rifle in question and is it new or used?

    2. Was this gun slapped together by someone or was it a proper build? If it is new take it back. If it used then you need to fix it.

3.There is no difference between the hammer and trigger pins. The difference is how they are held in place. You do need to ensure that you have the correct diameter pins in the weapon. Depending on make, model and year you could need .155 in. or .170 in. pins.

    4. The hammer contains a small spring that sits inside of it (vertically) and is partially visible when the hammer is outside the weapon. This spring retains the hammer pin.

    5. The trigger pin is held in place by the hammer spring. One leg of the hammer spring sits in the grooved portion of said pin.

My guess is that you possibly have the wrong diameter pins in the weapon and that is why they are "walking" out. If that isn't the case then it is possible that the weapon was assembled incorrectly. If you have checked all of those and nothing appears to be wrong then I suspect that the holes in the receiver are out of spec. You do not need KNS pins, but you should determine what is causing the problem and whether or not someone sold you a piece of crap.

I repaired a customers Century Arms AR15 about 3 weeks ago. His had the trigger pin walking (the rear pin). The problem turned out to be that his had a M16A2 hammer spring which didn't apply much force at all to the trigger pin. The trigger, hammer and disconnector and springs where of very poor quality so I gave and installed him some spares I had.
