I agree and should have mentioned that he could have substandard parts in the weapon as well.

The trigger, hammer and disconnector and springs where of very poor quality so I gave and installed him some spares I had.

Lightbulb had one do that once

i had one do that on a LAR made lower. in that case it was a bad hammer spring the one in the hammer that is. those pins won't move in or out if the FCG parts fit right.

most places sell the FCG parts outside of the lower parts kits. i like to keep a few spares around.

It is a "new" LMT MRP.

16 inch cqb upper on a defender lower with the single stage trigger and sopmod stock.

The gun was supposed to be new and apparently was a "shot show" special where LMT sold this dealer a boatload of weapons. They made specific mention of this because i asked about another MRP that they had on the showroom floor and they told me that i didnt want that one because the upper was bought separately from the lower and they simply couldnt give me a good price on it.

Im wondering if they couldnt give me a good price on it because the gun that they sold me was defective and they knew...

That of course is assuming the worst of the dealer but honestly, i dont trust anyone these days.

I feel very much alone here, i honestly dont know all that much about firearms other than what i believe to be quality based upon what ive read here. Im a little miffed at this situation so im hoping the dealer will resolve the issue tomorrow when i bring it up.

I appreciate all of the help you guys have given me thus far because its ammunition to bring to the table. Anything else you can think of would be greatly and i mean greatly appreciated.

Iraqgunz, id like to specifically thank you for the information you've given me.

No worries, hope it works for you. Now that you have provided more info I would probably say that buying a new LPK of reputable manufacture would be the way to go.

As I general rule of thumb were I to buy a used anything (especially an AR type rifle) in this day and age I would go over it with a fine tooth comb and would probably replace a few parts just for G.P.

Me too. On my own guns even when new I disassemble them completely and reassemble according to torque specs etc. I've found that sometimes Colt and LMT even over torque barrels. I wouldn't/don't remove carrier keys on factory Colt, LMT, BCM, new S&W, Alexander Arms, Noveske pretty much everything else I'd likely pull the carrier key and/or replace the carrier key.

Been while since I was working in the machine shop but different types of loctite for different applications. Blue-threads, temporary(243?). Red-threads,"permanent"(270?). Green is for pins(680?), That being said I'd be a little skeptical as to it's longevity on a gun with the repetitive vibrations and heat. If it was just a plinking gun I might go that route and just redo it every year. KNS of course is another route. Tighter pin is another route. Keep in mind those colors are for the "loc-tite" brand only other brands can have different colors.

Hmmm, I hate when I'm wrong, looks like they changed their product line some, been about 8 years since I was buying/using them. Scratch about half what I said and go with this.

Good thing I checked my info. ;p Looks like red is what they list for that application now, I wouldn't try to redo that every year fyi. ;p Good luck.

    or undertorque.

i've had a colt barrel take an act of God to remove... i've had another that i could remove the barrel nut by hand...
And I looked, and behold a pale horse and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

Im going to take the gun back to my dealer sometime next week after i return from vacation and see what they can do for me.

I contacted LMT and they also thought that it was probably the J-spring in the hammer. They offered to authorize an RMA number for me but i said i would go to the dealer first since they've got bigger things to worry about.

    Ok, here's an update.

I went ahead and brought the gun back to the dealer.

They were surprised and replaced the J-spring for me on the spot after i mentioned that LMT mentioned it MAY have been that part at fault.

Took the gun to the range and sure enough, the pin walked out after less than 5 shots.

I guess im going to RMA this one in order to make sure there's nothing wrong with the rifle.

I could probably get away with KNS anti walk pins but i want to make sure that the receiver pin holes arent enlarged or something similar. Its never fun buying and then being stuck with a defective product.
