    Super-Vel Ammo is back

(I am not affiliated with them at all)

As a person who has a bit of a Vietnam War fetish and was mentored by some of the older breed; I'd heard tell of this ammo in older automatics like Hi Powers and Model 39s and so on. Always seen pictures or old used up boxes. Never an actual one in person. They appear to have kept the same design.

I don't know the exact ballistic effectiveness per the modern era, but it is kind of exciting in a Re-Issue Ecto Cooler/Crystal Pepsi sort of way. I dunno if they would supplant modern Gold Dots or HSTs, but I'm getting a few boxes just for retro factor.

Has anyone tried this new batch yet or has anyone got any stories from the way back?

Super Vel was really something else back in the day, my late father carried the stuff in all his duty revolvers when he worked patrol in the 70's. Lee Jurras was well ahead of his time when it came to defensive ammo.

I'll stick with the 135g +P GDHP I carry in my J Frame.
