    S&W Mod 17 search

I've been searching for a S&W Mod 17 (not a 617) for over a year. Looking for a 10 shot, 6 in. Gun shops, gun shows, trader mags, etc. in the VA area. No luck, so I must be looking in the wrong places. Suggestions appreciated.
    Regards

I don't know if they every made a 10 shot model 17. (assuming you are talking about the blued model 17 or K-22 masterpiece) I don't recall having ever seen a blued 10 shot rimfire revolver from S&W. Then again, I'm not a S&W revolver expert.

If you want to find a blued model 17 my best suggestion would be to keep track on the gun auction sites like Gunbroker.com. Every now and then you'll find exactly what you want at a price you're willing to pay.

You are looking for the Model 17-8, made in the late 90's. Alloy 10 shot cylinder. I believe it was offered in the 6" bbl and blue finish only. +1 on gunbroker as a source. You might also try the S&W forum.
