Just a few (really out there) thought experiments. Please don't take this too seriously, its just for 'fun'.
1)Bare vanilla buffer tubes are covered (indirectly) in the 2015 ATF letter right? Or no?
Here's the crazy part:
2)You would never want to do this, just a thought experiment! What if you shouldered an AR pistol on someone elses shoulder (and fired it)? Safety not withstanding since this is just a thought experiment more to do with the ATF letter than real world application. Would either person be in breach of ATF opinion?
I'm also waiting to see more people posting images and videos online showing them shouldering the brace....on an airsoft gun(or unfinished 80% lower) will full disclosure that its not a gun. This might bring awareness to the fact that any burden of proof should also include that the gun pictured is in fact a real gun and not a replica.
It may have been stated here already and I missed it, but I am curious since it is illegal to make a pistol out of a rifle if you take a sig brace and put it on a rifle and then use it as intended(straping it to forearm) have you illegally made a pistol.
You can never make anyting idiot-proof, whenever you get close they just build a better idiot.
Firing a rifle with one hand with a sig brace(or any other way) does not make it a pistol according to any legal wording. The only touchy subject is whether a pistol becomes a SB(Rifle) or AOW just by the way its held and/or fired.
Even for pistol braces, do you need to fire the weapon in order to cross the ATF opinion letter line? What if I brought a sig braced pistol to the range and a buddy picked it up to inspect and shoulders it without firing? Has that buddy crossed that line?
What if I hug the pistol across my chest and the brace touches my shoulder, is that crossing the line?
Not going to read above to see if this has been posted yet...
