Talk to me about trijicon accupoint 1-4 optics.

I currently run an aimpoint t1 on my 14.5 bcm ar. I've been craving some magnification.

My favorite characteristic of the t1 is battery life. I love that I can leave the optic on while the rifle isn't in use. This left my high and dry in search of variable optics until I stumbled into the accupoint.

Are there any cons I'm missing between switching from a t1 to the accupoint? I was hoping to find one used for just slightly more than I can sell my t1 for.

Also. What are your suggestions for mounts? I was reading up on American defense mounts. All I'm looking for in a mount is to keep the scope low to the top of the rifle and qd mounts.

Any advice? Talk me in to or out of this.

    Thanks

    Derek

Did you do a search? This topic has been brought up many times. Most will steer you away from Acupoint's 1-4.

I'm really interested in this as well. I suspect the TR24 will give up some performance when used as an RDS, and it certainly weighs more... I guess my biggest question is how well the real world 1x performance is with respect to a typical RDS.

A friend has one and its held up. But the biggest drawback I've found is the post reticle. It blocks anything below where you aim and is useless for holds at distance. Even if you choose the traditional style crosshairs, there are no reference points for holds.

Before you suggest that licensing, background checks, or other restrictions for the 2nd Amendment are reasonable... Apply those same ideas to the 1st and 4th Amendments. Then tell me how reasonable they are.

I went from an Eotech to the accupoint red triangle 1X4 TR24. I didn't know if I would like it because I have used duplex types of reticles for years. I made the transition easily. The top of the triangle makes for an excellent reference point. As far as blocking everything, well, two thin lines are the only thing there and I have found a way to look through them. No solid reference points on those twin lines, that would be a great addition, but I haven't had a problem at the distances I shoot (up to 250 yds. on occasion). I've been happy with my choice on this current rifle or the one before it. I use a Larue Tactical 105 detachable mount and have been pleased with it.

I have a TR24G. Green triangle on post reticle.

I use it solely for short range hog hunting, under 100 yards, on an integrally suppressed Ruger 77/44 bolt rifle shooting .44 cal subsonics.

It is very quick to find the aiming point in low light.

All other close range rifles have an Aimpoint H1 red dot.

I am a big fan of the TR24 w/Green Triangle. With a Larue high mount and cat-tail, my favorite setup. Great 1x with both eyes open- picks up light very well. I still use Aimpoints, but my astigmatism is a PIA with reddots.

Exactly why I changed from Eotech to the TR24, true 1X and I also have an astigmatism.

Chalk up another win for the TR-24G for this old geezer with bad eyes. I've learned my holdovers, and the post is not a massive impediment for me.

I am, however, casting covetous eyes at some of the Bushnell 1-6x optics with their ranging options.

Talk to me about trijicon accupoint 1-4 optics.

TR24 is a great scope. Recent Burris TAC30 user here.

I've been a Aimpoint and EoTech user for years but always wanted to try a variable 1-4x optic. I shoot Practical Rifle and 3 gun matches regularly and I always felt that I was handicapping myself past 100 yards with no magnification. It's not that I couldn't make my hits, it just ate up a lot of time making those hits.

After quite a bit of research, and after looking through other competitors glass when ever I got the chance, I narrowed it down to the Vortex Razor 1-6x, Trijicon TR24, and SWFA 1-6x. I was still worried that I was going to sacrifice speed on CQB stages so I deceived to try a budget 1-4x to see if I liked it before I dropped the coin on a higher dollar scope. In came the Burris Tac30, (earlier version of the MTAC), and I'm sold on this optic. I zeroed it in right before a practical rifle match and decided to give it a try. It stayed on 1x for two stages which are within 25 yards, and cranked her to 4x on the third stage which is out to 200 yards. I took second place out of 52 competitors with the fastest times on one of the CQB type stages. The next match I took first out of 44 competitors.

Still not convinced that I was just as fast with the Tac30, I stayed after the match and ran one of the CQB stages a few times comparing my times with the EoTech and Tac30. To my surprise, I was faster 3 out of 4 times with the Tac30.

End story, I will be keeping the Tac30 and see no need to upgrade to a higher dollar variable power scope.
