^^this^^. They've added more workers. Something around 10-12, I think. And since they only started with 15 or so, that's a massive increase.
Additionally, they were basically given unlimited OT until the fiscal year restarted on 10/1. It's almost wide open again, as some examiners are taking forms home and working up to 12 hours a day. (This info came from somebody that called and asked last week, and posted the answer...no way I can confirm or deny it).

Money is a great motivator.
All I know is my first form 4 (2013) took close to 11 months. My last couple (Sept 2014) took around 4 months.

1993
The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 mandates background checks of gun buyers in order to prevent sales to people prohibited under the 1968 legislation. Checks would eventually occur through a new system, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), maintained by the FBI. But records of such checks cannot be preserved because federal law prohibits the creation of a national registry of gun ownership. Sales by unlicensed private sellers who are not engaged in gun dealing as a business are not subject to the checks under federal law, though they are required by some states.

I filed a Form 4 on 9/6/14 and my FFL said my stamp just came back.

And....I just got my email notifying me my Form 1 e-file on 12/12 was appproved. Wow....I figured with the holidays, it'd be end of the month for sure.

just picked up three new suppressors and all were under 4 months wait time!
Wonder how long my form 1 paper will take. Idk if they've cashed the check yet. I've read somewhere that they stopped doing assigned NFA reviewers bc of the backlog and its first come first serve. I've also heard they're having the reviewers take paperwork home and working overtime to meet the demand bc of the change to trusts that's coming. If this happens I wonder how efile will work or if they'll do away with it. Surely there's a way to make all available for efile. You can upload a pic, and I know from previous job experience that prints can be put on a computer. We had to clock in via a fingerprint and it was like a mouse that connected to usb that read whichever fingerprint you chose to use for clock in
I'm waiting on a Form 4 Individual for a local-in-stock Socom556-RC. Check was cashed 12-17 and reading through some of this I was starting to get excited. Unfortunately, seems like the quick turnarounds are for e-filed Form 1s and trusts.
I somehow screwed up my second app; I think Chrome autocorrect overwrote my trust name and put my name. It was Disapproved yesterday morning. Spoke w/ my NFA attorney and sent a new app in, then emailed someone at ATF he said works the resubmissions. Submitted a new app at 3pm yesterday (properly filled out) and got the stamp back at 11:45pm last night. That's got to be the fastest elapsed time on a control no. (it doesnt' count obviously because its a rework)
