Alternative to HSGI Tacos for 5.56 and 7.62x51 mag pouches

It seems like the HSGI Tacos come very highly recommended, and maybe that's the way I'll end up going...

But just to have some other options to compare, and since I don't know the market, who else makes mag pouches that effectively hold both 5.56 and 7.62 PMags? I'll need a few for a simple chest rig setup and one for a belt. I'm trying to consolidate and not have multiple chest rigs.

    Thanks!

GCode has the scorpion carriers, essentially a hard version of the Taco pouches. I don't know how well the 7.62 pouches would hold the 5.56 mags, but they would probably work. Maybe someone who owns them can comment.

I have the G-Code Scorpion 7.62 (as well as the Scorpion Double Stack Pistol Mag Carrier).

    http://www.tacticalholsters.com/category/Scorpion.html

It is a good product, and actually provides enough tension and grip to hold on to both 5.56 and 7.62 AR mags.

Alternatively, there's also the Tyr Tactical Rifle Mag Pouch (Adjustable):

    http://www.tyrtactical.com/products/...-pouch-pistol/

I have these as well, and they are top notch. Just as good as the HSGI Tacos, with the additional option of bungee retention on the mags. The bungee retention can be removed on both pouch types so that it holds the mag with just the tension/friction.

Either way you go, you can't really go wrong. HSGI, G-Code and Tyr all make quality gear.

I'm running tacos on my belt...2 for pistol mags and one for AR. They work great and are very adjustable/adaptable and rugged. Haven't had any issues with them but as you can see I'm also a fan of G-Code as I run their RTI system for my holsters so I can easily swap from 1911 to others...

Thought I had a pic of the tacos as well but I dont. Haven't regretted that purchase though and I plan on buying a few more.

    Just my .02!

Good to know they work with both. They are still fairly new so it's good to hear feedback from someone who owns them. I just got one of the SOC holsters, and am waiting on the belt attachments to start using it.

Yeah, I like G-Code's stuff. Their RTI system makes swapping holsters easy. I am hoping they make a SOC holster light cowling for the Surefire X300 Ultra.

I've got an X300U, and I'm hoping the same thing. I may just have to try my hand at kydex molding to make my own light cowling. I have made a few holsters, maybe it'll be easier than waiting who knows how long before they release one.
