This doesn't seem much different than barrel makers or rifle manufacturers making accuracy claims using specific ammunition. Only to have customers run m855 through it, and say that the manufacturer's numbers are BS.
Ammunition plays a huge role in every aspect of performance.

Let's say SS did the video and the numbers were crap. If they tell everyone how bad the numbers are their sells would drop like flies on the Omega IMO. Having said that I have my order for an Omega already in, SS numbers be damned! If the numbers are on par with the Saker I would be happy but I am hoping they will be a little better.
I am in the market for a can. My first one actually. I was leaning towards the omega, but my dealer sounds like he will not be able to get his hands on one for some time. So now I think I just might get the saker and call it a day. Sure, I have to pay the penalty of a few more ounces, but it will also be more robust. Plus the saker will give me an excuse to build a 7.5 barrel AR. I am thinking while I am at it I might as well get a pistol can too and will probably get the octane.
No, but flat end caps are coming. Definitely a 7.62 version, not sure about 5.56.
Shooting 5.56, it was in the ballpark of the 7.62 can was ~1.5 dB quieter than the 5.56 can, but the 7.62 can w/ 5.56 end cap was ~4dB quieter than the 5.56 can.
In general, the difference is the length and weight. Comparing two cans from the same line (Saker 556 vs 762, 556-SD vs 762-SD, 5.56 Phantom vs 7.62 Phantom, etc), the 7.62 is going to be longer and heavier.
As far as sound levels go, the 7.62 can will have more internal volume, so it'll suppress better. But due to the larger bore, it'll suppress worse. Those two factors often come close to cancelling each other out. However, the larger volume of the 7.62 can also produces a different tone, usually deeper, which may sound more pleasant to an individual.

Thanks for the info, I'm hoping they do release the 5.56 end caps for the omega, that extra suppression you mentioned above would be nice.
I just purchased an Omega so I hope they do release a 5.56 end cap and a flash hider also. Not sure why they would for the Saker but wouldn't for the Omega.
