the only thing that will not follow the instructions is if you're going to run a different gas block/front sight. everything else is cake.

oh and it depends on your upper vice fixture. some don't have alot of room for the half-moon locating plate.

Yep. The first thing I had to do when I installed my first Larue rail was to hog out the front side of my upper receiver block with a Dremel to clear the Larue locking ring and bolt heads. I used the Bushmaster version shown here about 1/3 of the way down the page.

Also, what brand of upper are you installing it on? I have found LMTs to be one of the biggest pain in the ass brands to work on. From the oversized straight pins in the FSB being a bitch to pound out to the fact that LMT seems to be unaware of what moly grease is and needing the freeze the upper to get the barrel off.

If you don't have it already, get yourself some Moly-Slide Lubricating Paste (near the bottom of the page) and apply a very small amount to the barrel and rail nut threads when re-assembling.

    Wink bushmaster

it will be installed on a bushmaster upper. so there is a little customizing that is needed to install it right. is there any type of grease that i can use, that i dont have to order. im a noob and are "jones'n" to put this thing on. and yes it is free-float and i am using the original front sight. i thought i heard some where that you need to replace the "crush" washer's when re-installing the front sight. thanks for the input.

^ you don't need to modify the upper, just the upper vise block if it gets in the way. you can get moly grease at almost any hardware/auto parts store.

As I understand it, this is not the same thing. I know it's been hotly debated elsewhere, but there is something in the auto moly grease that is not supposed to be there and is bad for our guns. I'll try to scare up the reason after my coffee.

great! i'll grab some coffee too. i just can't imagine something in a grease lube that would harm an AR. the cleaners and stuff that get on my guns are pretty strong as it is.

the only thing i can imagine is if it gunks up with all the heat from the chamber. but then again, how bad could it be? we're just putting a little on so we got good torque readings and to protect the barrel threads.
