Nonethelss, thanks for the info. Glad I asked the question. I never would have considered even trying such a heavy buffer in this gun. I pretty much just run H buffers in middys and H2s in carbines and call it good
Buffer weights DO NOT translate between Carbine and Rifle/A5 systems. An H2 is roughly equal to a H2 in A5.... even though there's a weight difference.

I have the BCM kit on one lower and hope to put rounds downrange with it using a 16" BCM midlength upper this weekend.

We went with a standard A5 kit with 7 position tube.

I may have hit accidentally hit 2 on all the quantities. I guess I'll slap one on my lower if I end up with a spare set.....

I did some testing a couple of months back and with the Colt carbine and it will run with a carbine H3 buffer and blue Sprinco spring.

I pretty much just run H buffers in middys and H2s in carbines and call it good (have had excellent results with that practice). It seems that weight results from carbine RE + buffers cannot be extrapolated to the A5? I guess Ill just try out several different A5 buffers with different types of ammo and see what I can get away with. Thanks again, guys. Excited to shoot the thing!

EDIT: Each gun is different and I'm not recommending going that heavy. The std buffer is fine.
Is that reliable even when you don't have a good hold on the gun?

When I Was doing lots of training we would always do rollover prone and urban prone and shooting under cars and weird stuff like that. It was easy to induce short stroking when the rifle wasn't shouldered right. I could even get my 16" Colt carbine to short stroke with an H2 and Federal.223.

Insanely reliable. No stoppages even when dirty, on crap ammo. I went 1200 rounds without cleaning. 40% tula/wolf, 60% xm193.

I agree. I am using the LMT enhanced carrier as well with a BCM bolt and it runs just fine. I am going switch over to an NP3 bolt soon as well.

Which bolt are you going to? I'm currently running a std LMT C158 phosphate bolt from Grant.

What buffer is recommended for the A5 buffer tube? I am using the spring http://damageindustriesllc.com/produ...r-action-rifle and I only have 16" midlength barreled uppers. I also use everything from full powered loads for hunting to cheap 55gr tula and am would like to maintain 100 percent reliability.

I'd start with the A5 H2 buffer AND spring to start. Perhaps others here have experience with or have heard of "Damage Industries" but I'd dump that spring. Especially if you have the longer RE-A5 but you didn't state that in your original question.

If you want better answers you need to be more specific about the uppers and gas port size, BCG's etc.....

    As pictured here.
