My only Noveske was a 14.5" mid and it was noticeably harsher than my 6920.

Nobeske and DD IME are very gassy guns.

The more 'high end' ARs I own, the better a Colt looks...

I agree. If only colt made a middy gas system!!!

Literally the only reason I don't own a Colt.

That makes absolutely no sense. I'd take a properly gassed carbine barrel over a gasser of a mid any day. Not to mention that Colt barrels consistently out shoot most other chrome lined barrels.

The Mid gas thing is blown way outta proportion, just like this A5 thing.

I would say that this is not the case. Depending on the variables involved, the selection of different gas system lengths and action types does have the ability to operate over a wider span in function over others overall when compared to the others.
It may be difficult to purchase some of the items directly off the shelf commercially that work well, and that is an industry problem. That does not mean that there can not be an improvement in function.

I can definitely tell a difference between carbine and middy. I can also definitely tell a difference between A5 and Carbine.

It doesn't make me a faster/better shooter. However, if my shoulder can tell, I am sure parts can tell. Anything I can do to lessen the stress on an already over-stressed system, I try to do. I have also noticed that A5 systems make a suppressor more transparent to the operation of the host.

DD uses a 0.076" gas-port on a 14.5" middy. It's a little large, but it's not bad. Noveske uses a 0.080-0.082", which in my opinion, is quite over-sized.

Back in post #200 I said I couldn't tell the difference in a side by side test. A5H3, Green spring, BCM BCG, Noveske 16" midlength N4, side by side with LMT carbine tube, BCM BCG, Noveske 16" midlength N4 Blue spring and H2.

The Noveske is definitely gassed more than BCM barrels.

Too bad I cannot get my ARs to shoot like my SCARs, except for the BCM 14.5 build I have which is damn near perfect.

I've never shot a SCAR, but I can't see it being any calmer than my M4 type rifles. Maybe I need to go look at slow-motion vids of 'em on YouTube.
