I just sent my lower off to be engraved for my first SBR, and I may change my mind before I put it together but as it stands at the moment I have decided to stay with what has worked and use the C4 cutout rail.

It's a little thick but I still prefer the Daniel Defense or Centurion front sight cut out rail, I just finished my sbr and was looking at those and got the DD for a smoking deal.

I'm still not sold on keymod and have heard a lot of comments like the one above about heat.

But then again, I hung on to the old 80's drag style cragers on my mopar long after everyone else went to the new thin low profile tires with giant rims

I'm having trouble parsing the semantics, I apologize. What are "rail sections"? My KMR rail is all one piece.

I think he's referring to the keymod Picatinny rail sections that ship with the KMR.

Rail sections are the sections of rail that are included with the BCM KMR. There is a 2 inch piece and a 3 inch piece I believe. I hope this helps, if not, you are basically SOL.

OK. I got it now, thanks. I didn't think of those....didn't install any on my KMR. All I'm using is a QD sling mount, Midwest rail panels, and a BCM stubby. And a QD flashlight mount on the top picatinney.

+1 on using a thread locker on keymod fasteners. Never had an issue, and I do have some BCM rail sections in play.

Checked out Geissele, it appears all their rails are out of stock, so no go there. Can the alphas/vtacs work with a shim?

Both my 11.5 and my 12.5 have Centurion rails and I have been very satisfied with them. The 11.5 has a 9", which covers the gas block and leaves just enough room for an Ops Inc can (reflex suppressor) to fit. They also use the standard barrel nut, which made the installation easier for me without requiring special wrenches or tools.

I just picked up a 14.5 ELW with KMR, and I have to admit, it is a very nice, very light rail, but that upper is not going to be run suppressed.
