I suspect the yaw AoA upon arrival variation is probably has a larger impact than the actual load performance in that delta range - I do feel like Mk318 is still a better load then the M855A1, but practically what the big army wants, it gets, and in the grand scheme of things if I'm paying real money for a loaded round, or taking the time to handload, and I don't have to worry about lining up with a specific BDC setup on an optic, then I'm going to choose the Mk262 option (or a similar load, like 70gr TTSX) every time, just because I can get slightly better internal and external ballistics out of that load... then I just set aside my Mk318 for my M4 type setups sitting on TA31RCO's, which I can feed with cheap M855 practice ammo (and similarly run cheap PPU 75gr HPBT stuff in lieu of Mk262 on everything else).
I do feel like the bonded stuff has a meaningful edge in intermediate barrier penetration, but it's marginal deltas at most, and cost per round, especially if you can find stuff in bulk, I'd argue a bigger pile of 855A1 surpasses the bonded stuff, although as alluded to above finding an adequate training surrogate has been my answer to running expensive stuff - I just need to quit being such a tightwad about actually running multiple mags of the go-time stuff through my rigs to verify that it runs as well as the cheaper practice junk.
