    10.5-11.5' vs. 18-20"

Yes, I understand this question is 100% subjective...just looking for opinions.

Which is more fun to shoot?

(I love ballistics, practical pros/cons, SHTF scenarios, etc as much as the next guy but this thread is about...[gasp] fun)

I prefer my 18" rifle over all my others but I'm an accuracy nut. My intermediate and rifle gas guns are both equally fun, but the intermediate is a little more accurate.

Afield and mobile I prefer the 11.5 with suppressor capability. From the distance or bench, the 18 with the can as well. Depends on what you are doing with it.

My 11.5" 6.5 Grendel is without a doubt the most fun gun to shoot that I own. The muzzle device is a bit on the obnoxious side because it's closer to you due to the short barrel but I only shoot this outdoors so it's not an issue. It's really fun to hear the rounds "thwap" steel at 200 yards vs the "tink" you hear with 5.56.

    Did I mention it's short?

Personally? Just shootin' in the woods. No running and gunning but no bench rest shooting either.

I'm opening the thread up for anything though..

    Oh, I agree!

I'd take blonde and apple pie though if I had to pick

My favorite 5.56 lengths are 11.5-12.5.
Does all I expect a 5.56 to do, in a neat little package.
The HG is a little cramped (even at 10.75"), but better than is possible with a 10.5 barrel.

Fed purpose built ammo it is wholly adequate out to 200, which is pretty much the optimal envelope of 5.56 other than for giggles.

I agree. 12.5 with a TR24 scope for my old eyes does everything I need it to do.

If it is just walking around in the woods, 16" midlength... With a red dot.

When I grab a rifle to take with me on long walks, its a 20" with irons and a SF Scout. You can't get any more reliable than that for the price.

If I ever get around to getting a CZ Scorpion, that will be my grab and go gun.

Beyond that everything else is a crap shoot.
